Schiblers Celebrate Their 50th
Wedding Anniversary at St. Olaf
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Schibler
were entertained by their chil-
dren on their Golden Wedding An-
niversary Sept. 15, 1968 at the
St. Olaf Lutheran Church between
the hours of 3 and 5 D.m.
Guests were welcomed by their
son and daughter in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Sherman Schibler of Math-
is. Mrs. Lonnie Williford, a
granddaughter, presided at the
suiest book. The registration ta-
ble. laid with a white eutwork
cloth, also held a wedding pic-
ture of the honored couple.
Grandchildren. Steve, Patty and
Robert Schibler. also Lonnie Wil-
liford and Mrs. Edmond Jones
received and displayed the gifts.

one of their attendants of 50

The anniversary table, laid
with a lace cloth over yellow,
was centered with an arrange-
ment of bronze mums topped
with a glittering “50”. The dou-
ble ring wedding cake, decorated
with gold leaves and bells, was
topped with the number ”50”.
The crystal punch service and
silver appointments also enhanc-
ed the table which held gold
lighted tapers.
Mrs. Ovie Huse, Mrs. Morris
Huse and Mrs. Arnold Schibler
served the punch, cake and cof-
fee.
For the happy occasion Mrs.
Schibler had a white carnation
corsage trimmed with gold and
white ribbons. Mr. Schibler had
a white carnation boutonniere.
Members of the house party had
white carnation corsages.
Rev. Marvin Ottmers gave the
devotion and Steve Schibler read
his grandparents' History. Mrs.
Schibler thanked all for attending
and helping to make their anni-
versary a wonderful day.
HISTORY GIVEN
William Rudolph Schibler first
met Lenora Tomina Huse as she
was riding to confirmation class
in a buggy and he rode by on
a horse. A romance budded be-
tween these two. During their
courtship Lenora got a lot of
wild buggy rides as Bill was us-
ually breaking a horse to the
buggy.
It wasn't long before Bill ask-
ed Lenora for her hand in mar-
riage. Lenora set the date for
Sept. 14. 1918, the day before
her birtthday.
The wedding was performed by
Rev. Estrum at the St. Olaf
Rock Church, east of Cranfills
Gap, Texas. Attendar^i were
Margurete Hanson Frost and Ano
Otto Olson.
The couple engaged in farm-
ing for many years.
A son, Ray, was born to Bill
and Lenora on January 27, 1923.
Another son. Sherman, was born
March 7. 1927. The family mov-
ed to Cranfills Gap in the fall
of 1943.
Ray was married to LoVerne
Rohne in 11446. They reside at
Gruver, Texas, and have two
daughters, Marcia and R a y e
Dean.
Sherman was married to Doris
Dahl in 1946. They reside at
Mathis, Texas, and have three
sons and two daughters. They
are David, Delores, Steven, Pat-
ricia and Robert.
Both Bill and Lenora were
baptized and confirmed »i St.
Olaf Lutheran Church and have
been memliers since that time
He is employed by the Cranfills
Gup Water Works.

began a new year by electing
its officers for the year. They
are as follows: President. Norma
Fields: Secretary. Belinda Ei-
sen; Treasurer, Cindy Rohne;
Drummer, Christine Orbeek.
The cheerleaders for this year
are Ann Stevens, Norma Fields,
and Traeine Phillips. Lauri Knud-
son and Doris Smith are the
majorettes.
This year the Pep Squad will
provide a drill routine for each
home game, so be sure to come!
ENTER WACO FAIR
The girls of the Cranfills Gap
FHA had several entries in the
Heart O' Texas Fair. Six girls
entered in the Clothing Depart-
ment while the others entered in
Foods and other various depart-
ments. Everyone hopes to win
first prize!
