and undisguised. It is reported by re-
liable persons that in his speech at Bas-
trop Judge Oldham expressed himself
decidedly against the measure and re- -commended
a change of the constitu-
tion so as to enable the .State to sub-
scribe one-third of the stock: in every
railroad enterprise whenever the Leg-
islature shall deem ij expedient.
