CHS Band Getting Ready For Contests

MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT-Here members of
the Clifton High School Marching Band perform during

CLIFTON — On Saturday, Oct. 22,
the Clifton High School Band will be
participating in its first field competi-
tion of the year. The Hurst-Euless-
Bedford UIL Contest will be held in
Bedford, with the Clifton band
performing at 3 p.m. on Pennington
Field on Airport Freeway.
According to CHS Band Director
Larry Snider, "This is considered
one of the top marching festivals in
the state. It will include Carroll South
Lake (110 AA members), Brewer,
Stephenville, LD Bell, Arlington,
Irving, McArthur, Plano, Richland,
and Trinity."
On Tuesday, Nov. 8, the band will
beat Wildcat Stadium in Temple to
defend its regional titled The band
will perform sometime that morning.
“If things go well,' ’ said Snider, ‘ ‘ we
will advance to the State Marching
Contest one week later. "
In commenting on this year's CHS
Band, he said, "The kids have made
good progress so far, but we still
haven’t reached the point I am
looking for. The potential is there,
though. Our parents and supporters
can really help us at these contests,
so we encourage all who can to go
and help fire up the kids "
Girl Scouts To
Host Halloween
Party On Oct. 31
CLIFTON - Girl Scout Troop 245
of Clifton will sponsor a Halloween
party for children ages 2 to 5 on
Monday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m., at
Trinity Lutheran Church, 803 W. 3rd
Street.
Each Scout will take two children
trick or treating, along with adult
supervision. Following this, the
party, complete with refreshments,
will beheld.
Anyone interested in participating
is encouraged to call Mary Stanford
at 675-8427. Cindy Rendahl at
622-3734, or .Mary Hall at 675-3253
prior to Oct. 29, so that the troop will
know how many children to count on
Also needed is a permission slip for
each child.
Said a Girl Scout spokesman,
"We are looking forward to having
your children with us."
