AUSTIN--Attention hunters! If
you need to take the hunter educa-
tion course before fall hunting
seasons, the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department can help. Ac-
tually, even those who do not have to
take the course can benefit from it.
Beginning Sept. 1, persons born
during the period Sept. 2, 1971,
through Aug. 31, 1976, must have
completed a certified hunter educa-
tion course to hunt legally in Texas.
Also, if you plan to hunt in another
state this fall, the course is accepted
by all states and Canadian pro-
vinces.
“This course is designated to
teach hunter safety and responsibili-
ty, but we also want to make young
hunters aware of their hunting
heritage,” said Terry Erwin, con-
servation recreation doordinator.
Below is a list with the starling
date • of upcoming student hunter
education courses in several coun-
ties. They are listed by city, date, in-
structor and telephone number. For
