Mrs. William Ahring was de-
lightfully complimented with a
surprise birthday party at the
home of Mrs. Arthur Hayes on
Wednesday evening of last week.
The occasion was a very gala one.
Mrs. Hayes fashioned a beautiful
corsage of red rftse buds which
she presented to the honoree while
the group sang happy birthday.
The group presented Mrs. Ahring
with a lovely matched jewelry set
also.
The beautiful table decorations
of red and yellow roses came from
the yards of Mrs. Liza -Austin and
Mrs. Jack Mullins. - Ham and
pimento sandwiches, fritos, pick-
les,. olives were se’rved along with
the delicious and beautifully dec-
orated Angel food birthday cake
and coffee.

her friends, Mrs. Jan Dell Camp
and Miss Mary Ann Kuhn of
Chicago, Illinois, visited Mr. and
Mrs. A. Jeffers and Mrs. A- Wood
and children Friday.
On Sunday afternoon Mr. and
Mrs. Loyd Jeffers, Mrs. Dell Camp,
Miss Kuhn, Mr. and Mrs. A. A.
Jeffers went to Medina Lake and
dam. It was this reporter’s first
visit to the lake.
Marvin Dean’s name was unin-
tentionally omitted from the list
of pall bearers for Mrs. M. L.
Saathoff’s funeral. He is a grand-
son of the late Mrs. Saathoff and
we are sorry this orror occurred.
Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Adams and
family of Medina spent Mother’s
Day with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Hohenberger Sr.
Lynn Jeffers, one of the Seniors
of Bandera High School spent
Thursday through Sunday at New
Orleans, La., ,with the Seniors on
their Senior trip and reports a
wonderful time.

The week-end’s activities includ-
ed horseback riding and other
ranch events and picture taking.
The guests were amazed to see
their first century plant, which is
blooming in the ranch yard for
the first time in 100 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Threadgill
of Flagler Beach, Florida, were
visitors in Bandera last Sunday,
and were in Frontier Times Mu-
seum for more than an hour seeing
the wonderful collection of Texas
and western items. Mr. Thread-
gill informed us that his father
lived in Bandera county in 1908
for a short time after he was the
successful "runner” in a school
land rush here. The Threadgill
family lived at San Angelo many
years.

Eighth Grade will be held Thurs-
day night and for the High School
Friday night. There are only
three graduating from High
School. They are Mary App

Ray Patton.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sehimmelp-
fennig of San Antonio spent Sat-
urday afternoon in the home of
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.
Schimmel pfennig.
We are glad to report Francis
Thompson getting along fine since
his recent illness.
The Baccalaureate Sermon was
held in the High School auditorium
Sunday morning at 11 o’clock with
Brother Slade preaching.
Jerry Ryan, who is on leave
from the Navy accompanied his
mother, Mrs. Ted Ryan and two
sisters, from San Antonio, to their
ranch near Vanderpool for a few
days visit.
Mrs. Jessie Dibbens went home
with her daughter and husband,
Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Neff of Kan-
sas, Saturday.

serving with Fleet Aircraft Serv-
ice Squadron Three at the Naval
Air Station. Norfolk, Va.
The squadron repairs and main-
tains Atlantic Fleet aircraft and
provides transportation for com-
mands within the Atlantic Fleet
Air Force.
