Mr. and Mrs. Casey Kindle of Canton and Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Applewhite of Tyler announce the engage-
ment of their daughter, Rebecca Ashley Applewhite,
to Jason Eli Amsel, son of Dr. Richard and Mrs. Judi
Amsel of Santa Barbara, California.
The future bride received a Bachelor of Arts de-
gree in International Studies from Texas A&M Uni-
versity in College Station, Texas. She went on to re-
ceive her Juris Doctorate from South Texas College
of Law in Houston, Texas. She is employed as an
attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area office of
Coddington, Hicks, & Danforth, PC.
The future groom received Bachelor of Science
and Master of Engineering degrees in Electrical and
Computer Engineering from Cornell University in
Ithaca, New York. He received his Juris Doctorate
from the University of California Berkeley, Boalt Hall
School of Law, in Berkeley, California. He is em-
ployed as an attorney in the Silicon Valley office of
Fenwick & West, LLP.
A July 2013 wedding in California and October
2013 reception in Texas are planned. The couple will
live in Silicon Valley with their dog Quincy, and cats
Tucker and Frank.
Iris Garden Club
Prepares For 2013
The Iris Garden Club
closed out 2012 with a
Christmas Lunch at the
Potporri House in Tyler.
The first meeting of
2013 will be on January
14 at 1 p.m. at the Can-
ton Senior Citizens
Building. The program
will be presented by
Tommy Deen of Wills
Point on Water Features
and Water Conservation.
Refreshments will be
served by Dorisene
Groves and Kay
Hall. Everyone is invited
to attend. Applications
for membership, if any-
one is interested in join-
ing, will be available.
Persons must attend
three consecutive meet-
ings to be able to join and
be sponsored by a cur-
rent member.
Come and visit us at
the January meeting.
