FOR PRESIDENT
"I am running for president because I want our children to grow up
in a country that is coming together, not coming apart And, I am
running for president because I refuse to stand by and let our chil-
dren become the first generation of Americans to do worse than
their parents "
From 1992 speeches of Gov. Bill Clinton (D-Ark.)
"Given the problems we face at home, we do have to take care of our own people
and their needs first. We need to remember the central lesson of the collapse of
communism and the Soviet Union. We never defeated them on thefield of battle. The
Soviet Union collapsed from the inside out—-from economic, political, and spiritual
failure."
"Our President has devoted his time and energy to foreign concerns and ignored
his problems at home. Asa result, we fre drifting in the longest economic slump since
WWII."
"Our national security is largely economic. The success of our policy abroad
depends not on the headlines it brings to Washington politicians, but on the benefits
it brings hard-working middle-class Americans. "
"We must organize to compete and win in the global economy. We need a
commitment from American businesses and labor to work together......"
