Althugh we have never gone
along with the old saying, “If
you can’t lick ’em, join ’em,” feel-
ing this method a bit cowardly,
at this point we are inclined to
use a woman’s prerogative and
change our mind. Dating from
the editor’s descriptive column
last week on females and the sack
dress, common sense tells us we
imust join the march. Hence, this
is to notify the better half that
come next outing his fading but
still kicking spouse will sport a
sack dress of madarin red with
black figures. In this way his
wandering eye can take in the
horrors of the sack dress at clos-
er range. If worse comes to worse
the ensemble will sport a bow
or two in advantageous spots, just
to set off the outfit. Yes, sir, it
must have been Napoleon’s Jose-
phine that said, ‘If you can’t beat
em, join em.” A woman had to
say that!
The Calvin Ellisors have ac-
complished a bang-up good “do
it yourself" project both inside
and out. Next door, Homer and
Opal Bobbitt have remodeled
their kitchen—and heaven knows
what all by this writing. The A.
L. Bains are getting a new patio;
Mrs. Dewey May is having some
work done, can’t figure out ex-
actly what yet . . . and for sev-
eral columns now we have over-
looked Mrs. L. F. Kerley’s lov-
ely home, which looks like new
with asbestos siding and a new
front porch. Although we rarely
get down by the Brack Shelton
home, the grey paint and white
trim sets this house off. . . even
more, the over-all care on yard
and house makes it worth driv-
ing around the block to see. We
consider the people’s pride in their
homes one of this town’s finest
assets, so call up if your re-
modeling has been overlooked—
it is unintentional.

People are like Henny Penny
. . . the minute a fellow begins
thinking how lucky he is, that’s
the very time the world falls on
his head. It usually takes a while
to whittle your troubles down to
the size of an acorn, but it can
foe done with perseverance.

Correction on Charlie Korn’s
address, he is not in Marlin as
stated in last week’s Tribune,
but in Temple. So sorry, now we
don’t know whether we sent a
card to the right place or not
ourselves!
Mrs. Richard Weed returned
home last Friday after a ten-day
visit with Mrs. Weed’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hulan. The
Weeds planned to stop by Hous-
ton for a brief visit with Mr. and
Mrs. Henry D. Hulan. Carol Jean
has spent the last month with
her grandparents. Mrs. Hulan is
spending this week in the Henry
D. Hulan home.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Anderson
had their entire family home this
week-end. Those from out-of-
town were Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Barnett and Blake of Mineola and
Miss Pam Anderson of San An-
tonio. While the Barnetts were
here they also visited in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Vester Barnett.
John Anderson returned to Min-
eola with them for a week’s visit..
