PEANUT
FESTIVAL
Wilson County will again pay
tribute to the lowly Spanish Pea-
nut at the 15th Annual Flores-
ville Peanut Festival on Friday
night, Oct. 10, and all day Satur-
day, Oct. 11.
The coronation of Queen Tun
eap (peanut spelled backwards)
will be held Friday night.
Saturday is homecoming and
pioneer day. A big parade will
begiH at 10:00 a.m. Senator Ralph
Yarborough will officially open
the festival on the courthouse
square at 11:00 a.m. There will
be exhibits and carnival attract-
ions to see the remainder of the
day.

DIES IN DEVINE
Mr. GRANVIA GRIFFIN
Mr. Granvia Griffin passed
away in the Devine Rest Home
Tuesday night, Sept. 30. He was
bom in Medina County on Sept.
4, 1877, and was 81. He had
been a life long resident of this
county and was a member of
the Primitive Baptist Church.
His wife passed away in 1918.
He is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Estelle Mary Hardcastie of
Devine and Mrs. Lorena Crumm
of San Antonio and three grand-
children. Funeral service was
conducted here at the Hurley
Chapel at eleven o’clock Thurs-
day morning by Rev. Manuel
Griffin of Gonzales. Interment
was in the Hunt cemetery.

1. Twenty-six members were
present for the meeting. After all
business was checked on all
joined a card game. Prizes went
to Mrs. Ed Koch, Mrs. Oscar
Nester, Mrs. Alvina Koch and
5frs. Raymond Wolff got consola-
tion. A nice lunch was served
and all enjoyed it. Mrs. Ella
Shane will have the next meet-
ing on November 5 at Sabinal.

es of Devine. Mrs. Wood was a
member of the Church of Christ.
The funeral was conducted by
Floyd Hill at the Hurley Chapel
in Devine, Monday morning. In-
terment was in the Longview
cemetery at Big Foot.
The Parent Teacher Carni-
val was a huge success at St.
Joseph’s school Sunday afternoon
and evening. —
