Committee considering new
taxes, today voted to increase
out of town postage rates
from three to four cents. And
the current two-cent rate on
local mail to three cents.
The committee also voted to
cut back its previously recom-

in air mail rates to eight cents.
The committee stood by its
prior action doubling the rates

religious publications.

admission taxes, formerly
boosted from 10 to 30 per cent,

Joaquin F. F. A. Chapter
Visits Shrs report Fair
The F. F. A. boys of Joaquin
visited the Shreveport fair Oc-
tober 28, 1943. The first thing
we did when we got there was
to look at and study livestock.
We noticed that the 4-H club
and F. F. A. boys were show-
ing beef stock calves which in-
cluded Hereford, short horn,
and Aberdeen Angus, which
were really fine. There were
more Jersey stock of cattle
than beef, because there is a
dairy industry there.
We saw all breeds and types
of hogs. The largest hog we
saw was a Poland-China male,
while weighed seven hundred
pounds.
We studied all breeds and
types of chickens which ' was
very interesting.
After our adviser was
through with us we ate, rode
and had a good time until
eleven o’clock, then came
home.
We learned a great deal
about livestock and poultry,
and had plenty of fun.
