Monday morning, September
2nd, and indications point to
another successful term, with
probably an increase in enroll-
ment over last year.
The first two days will be
deroted to registration of pu-
pils, districts being designated
by Superintendent S. R. Per-
center as follows:
Monday—Tennessee, Rose
Hill, tVedge worth. Weaver and
Wilda.
Tuesday—Blair, Silas, Stock-
man. Waterman, Cooper,

CHANGES TOLD
Veterans insurance provi-
sions have been made more
flexible, it has been announc-
ed by the Chief of Finance.
Washington, D. C.
The Insurance Act of 1946,
approved August 1, 1946,
makes the following changes
in National Service Life insur-
ance, effective immediately:
a. A lump sum settlement
may be selected by the insured.
b. Restrictions on the desig-
nation of beneficiaries is re-
moved.
e. Twenty year endowment
policies are available upon
conversion, . or endowments
payable at ages sixty or sixty-
five.
d. Total disability income of
five dollars per month per
thousand is available on pay-
ment of £xtra premium.
The announcement states
that in lieu of appropriate
forms, written notice to the
Veterans Administraffon;
Washington, D. C. identifying
the applicant and stating the
changes he desires, will be suf-
ficient to establish the intent
of the insured, and to initiate
the desired action.
The announcement, coming
through Headquarters 4th Ar-
my, Ft Sam 'Houston, Texas,
requests that this information
be widely disseminated so that
veterans may be given the
benefit of these changes as
promptly as possible.

On Terminal Leave
At regular meeting of the
local poet of the American Le-
igion held Tuesday night of this
week plana were made to len-
der assistance to all veterans
in filling out their terminal
leave applications. This serv-
ice is free, Poet Commander
Weeks Crawford, Jr., states,
and ALL VETERANS who de-
sire will be assisted two half-
days this week at the office of
the Timpson chamber of com-
merce, as follows:
Friday. 12 noon to 5 p. m.
Saturday, 8 a. m. to 12 noon.
The design for the memorial
building proposed by Dr. W.
D. Whiteside was accepted by
the Legionnaires, and construc-
tion is expected to start in the
near future, Mr. Crawford
said.
Crump Enlists in Army
F. M. Crump enlisted In the
Regular Army on August 23, it
was reported by S/Sgt. Ches-
ter L. Murrah, of the U. S.
Army Recruiting Sub-station in
Center, Texas.
Crump is the son of Forrest
A. Crump, of Route 3, Timp-
son, Texas. He graduated from
the Timpson High School,
where he played football. F.
M. enlisted for a three-year pe-
riod, choosing the Army Air
Forces as'hie branch of service,
and will select his overseas
theater at conclusion of his
baric training.

New completions today have
given Carthage field, Panola
county, both Its best oil pro-
ducer and its largest Raster.
On the northwest edge of
the field, Skelly Oil company
has recompleted its S. B. Mat-
thews No. 1, William McFad-
den survey, for 480 barrels of
43 graviey oil daily through
%-inch choke from lower Pet-
tit perforations. It was origi-
nally completed in April as a
gasser from the uppeF Pettit
and 14 barrels of oil hourly
from the lower Pettit.
Fhillipa Petroleum com-
pany’s Naomi No. 1 John Lee
survey took the title of the
field's largest gas producer in
being assigned a daily open
flow potential of 640,000,000
cubic feet from the lower pet-
tit. The well was .tarted by
Kerr-McGee.
