Bartlett School Board
Meets In Short Session
Trustees of tho Bartlctt Independent School District met
Tuesday evening December 11 for their regular monthly
meeting.
The following teachers were appointed to serve on the text
book committee for the 1979-80 school year: Connie Fiebig
Jerry Smalley Esterleen Fischer James Crews and Supt.
Archie Scott chairman.
Board members employed a structural engineer to ap-
praise the Farm & Ranch building foundation.
A bid of $27785.00 from Lockridge-Prlest was accepted by
board members to rcplae the air conditioning and heating
unit in the high school building This will consist of the
replacement of the air conditioner compressor boiler two
circulating pumps starter for the electrical panel control
panel air compressor and tying on to existing refrigerant
lines and power wiring
The meeting date for future board meetings was changed
to tho second Monday of each month and the time will be 7
pm.
In other business new band uniforms were discussed by
the board members but no action taken.
Sections
Christmas party held at the Kuhlmann Civic Center last
Saturday December 15. The party was co-sponsored by
the Holland Jaycces and the Holland Lions Club.

Meets With
R. A.'s
R A.'s met Tuesday
evening December 11 at the
First Baptist Church in
Bartlctt with four boys and
three counselors present.
Rev. Ralph Bowlin foreign
Missionary to Rhodesia
brought some exciting stories
about his work overseas.
Following the speaking
Counselor Tommy Thompson
presented a letter from all
the R. A.'s asking Bro.
Bowlin to sponsor the chapter
with his name. Bro. Bowlin
accepted and gave his per-
mission. Following the meeting the
boys were treated with treats
as Bro Bowlin visited with
Rev. and Mrs. Wesley
Thompson.
R. A. meetings begin each
Tucaday evening at 6:30 p.m.
with all boys grades 1-6 In-
vited to attend. Tho R.A.'s
and G.A.'s will have a
combined hayrlde and
Christmns Caroling Satur-
day December 22 at 3 p.m.
The group will meet at the
church. Rev. Thompson asks
that everyone pray for all
who are Involved In these

Lenz Elected Bartlett
C Of C President
Raymond Lcnz will become president of
the Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce
for 1980 as a result of a canvass of votes at
a meeting of the Chamber Monday
December 17.
Ronnie Pcrsky was elected vice-
president. One Year Directors will be Ben Parncll
John Voight Archie Scott John Brown and
Doug Thaler.
Two Year Directors were Bernicc
Bailey Jimmy Howell Franklin Langc
Harry Perkins and Pat Hightower.
Write-in votes were received for
Maurice Steglich and Urbano Perez for
One Year Directors and Ruth Janke and

where he has been employed since
December of 1078.
Holland School Will Purchase Bus
The Holland School Board
decided at their last meeting
December 12 to purchase a
new school bus. A 54
passenger bus will be or
children from the Sts. Cyriland Methodius Catholic Church

Bartlett City Council
Has Regular Meeting
Regular monthly meeting of the Bartlett City Council was
held Monday evening December 17.
Councilmcn voted to enter into a contract with Central
Texas Council of Governments for administrative services in
connection with the City's Community Development Block
Grant.
A letter from MKT Railroad was discussed but no action
taken at this meeting.
Utility deposits to all new customers were raised to a
minimum of $10000. The reconnect charge was raised to $25
during office hours and $25 plus time and a half for the em-
ployee after working hours and on weekends and on holidays.
Utilify Supt. Mike Williams reported on the various ac-
tivity in his department such as changing out water meters
repairing some holes in streets and repairs at the sewer
plant.
Chief of Police Horace White gave his usual written report
stating all the activity In his department during the past
month.
Balances in all funds and accounts were noted and ap-
proved. All delinquent accounts were reviewed and noted.
City Of Bartlett Holland
Receive Sales Tax Checks
Cities of Bartlett and Holland received a check last week
for their local option of one-percent sales tax provided to
Texas cities according toState Comptroller Bob Bullock.
Bartlett received a check for $3512.30 which was an in-
crease over the $346735 received for the same period last
year.

coached at Bartlctt for 214 years.
Originally from Thrall he is a graduate
of Southwest Texas State University in San
Marcos.
He and his wife Suzanne and children
Kimbcrly age 8 and Chad age 5 reside in
Bartlctt.
Lcnz said he will be looking forward to
continuing a number of projects which the
Chamber began in 1979.
"The big thing is Homecoming" Lcnz
said. "We've got to get the whole town
behind it."
Lcnz hopes to organize early for Bar-
tlctt's Homecoming celebration to make it
one of the biggest and best.
He also hopes the Chamber can continue
its effort to improve the downtown area.

Counties. Families who have
energy related crises caused
by the high costs of heating
and whosp incomes meet the

for assistance whether they
own or rent their homes.
Persons who receive rent
assistance under HUD
Section 8 will not be eligible.
Assistance will be in the
form of payment of past due
or current fuel bills or other
necessities when hardship or
danger to health exists. Help
with future fuel bill will be
available to elderly (age 60
and above) persons only.
No immediate deadlines
exist for aplicatlon. People
may apply as need arises
throughout the Winter and
applications will be
processed as received. Api
plications are being taken at
the Neighborhood Center
