The Hondo Public Library will
soon be charging a users' fee of $10
annually per family and $5 annyally
per individual for out of town
residents, library patrons who have
proof that they pay city utilities
will not be charged. The starting
date will be determined after the
Hondo Public library Board of
Trustees meets on April S for their
monthly meeting. Anyone living
outside the city limits should be
prepared to pay a users' fee in the
next month or so.
The library still has Story-Hour
every Tuesday at 10 AM.

until noon.

until noon.

Naegehn Hall, Castro vibe, was
the setting for a miscellaneous
shower tea honoring Renae Bundy,
bride-elect of Sammy Tschirhart Jr.
on Saturday evening, March 26,
1988 from 6 to 7:30.
Covered with an ecru cloth with
detailed cutwork design and
crocheted edge, the registry table
held a vase filled with silk roses in
the bride's chosen color, dusty rose.
An ecru bow of lace accented the
arrangement. Laura Haby, cousin of
the prospective bridegroom, was in
charge of the bride's book.
For this special occasion, the
future bride chose to wear a blue and
white dress with brocade design.
Presented to her by the hostesses, hr
dusty rose corsage was made up of
silk roses.
Joining Renae in the receiving
line were her mother, Lona Bundy;
Sammy's mother, Yvonne
Tschirhart; grandmothers of the
couple, Frances Haby and Helen
Allison; Sammy's godmother Jody
Hoog; and his godfather's wife,
Margaret Haby.
Opening and displaying the many
lovely and useful gifts were
Veronica Garza and Amy Allison.
Potted plants added a special
touch to the tables where gifts were
on display.
White lace draped the serving
table where dusty rose tapers in
silver holders flanked a wicker
basket of ivy and pink flowers. The
table held refreshments of chicken
salad on assorted crackers, and fresh
fruit salad with a choice of
chocolate or marshmallow topping,
coconut, and chopped pecans. A
silver punch bowl was filled with
iced tea. Coffee was poured from a
silver service.
Servers were Ann Tshirhart, sister
of the future bridegroom; his sister-
in-law, Maureen Tschirhart; and
cousins, Vickie Ijams, Janet
Bednarz and Patty Tschirhart
Guest tables were decorated with
ivy and miniature wicker baskets
filled with dusty rose flowers.
Forty-five relatives and;, friends
made up the hostess list. Their gift
to the couple was a set of cookware.
While the shower was in
progress, Sammy Jr. was being
feted with a stag party at the Jack
Boehme Farm in Rio Medina.
One hundred pounds of catfish
was fried and served along with
french fries, cole slaw, beans,
Haby's bread, and drinks.
Approximately 100 guests enjoy-
ed card games and conversation until
the wee hours of the morning.
Those planning and preparing for
the party were Maury Stein,
Anthony Tschirhart, Phillip
Tschirhart, Curtis Boehme, Kerry
Tschirhart, Tommy Bednarz, Jacob
Tschirhart, Leonhardt Otto and
Samuel H. Tschirhart
Renea and Sammy Jr. will be
married Friday, April 8, in Si
Louis Catholic Church, Castroville.
Roses topic of Qub program
The Hondo Garden Club met
March 11, at the Municipal
Auditorium. The program was
entided "Roses are Red My Love."
Speaker, Mrs. Hilmer Haegelin, a
member of the Garden Club, chose
as her topic, "Roses the language of
Love, legends and lore."
Hostesses were Mrs. W.M.
Summer, Mrs. Jot Mcllraith and
Mrs. E.G. Pope.

D’Hanis study group meets
The DHams Extension Study
Group meeting was held March 21
at the home of Denise Watkins.
The program "Fiber in the Diet"
was given by club member Esther
Nester. She served bran muffins
and discussed dietary fibers and how
they help the body.
A club trip to the Botanical
Gardens and River Center Mall in
San Antonio is planned for April
12.
The next meeting will be held at
the home of Dorothy Attaway on
April 18. The program "Using
Consumer Credit" will be given by
Gaye Bippert.

Guests for the evening were Lil
Santleben, Dorothy Cheney, and
Imelda Burrell who were playing for
Carol Long, Charlotte Lutz, and

Visiting with Mrs. Bernice
Finger recently were Jim and
Peggy Finger of Duncanville. Their
daughter Shelley, who is a high
school freshman, was spending her
spring break in Germany. The
students studying foreign languages
in high school visit the countries in
which the language is predominatly
spoken. This is an annual journey
during spring break.
