ness and loyalty of our friends back
home. Will come deer hunting when
this biz is over." ,
The men appreciate the «ervice of
the Red Cross, as was expressed in
another letter:
"We hope that those at home will
coritinue to assist the Red Cross
workers in their noble efforts."
A captain wrote:
"Yesterday I received a little pack
age from you. In it were a sewing
kit, cigarettes, playing cards and a
number of those little items that the
American soldier always seems to
need
"We are far from home—in the
Pacific theater. You can not realize
what these tokens of faith and re-
membrance do for us all. From the
bottom of my heart ami for all the
good Texans here with us, I thank
you."
A supply officer in the Navy
writes:
“It is gratifying to know that those
at home have not forgotten us who
have left families, friends, jobs and
homes to do our part to end 'his ter-
iVble struggle and awful waste of
lives. I speak for myself first and
secondly for the men of this detach-
ment.
“Inamuch as I am the Supply Of-
ficer of this detachment of ‘Seahees’
and personally directed the Issuance
of the comfort kits, I know that our
men are deeply grateful to you and
to other chapters of the American
Red Cross that have done so much
to help the men in the service.
“May God blesft you and watch
o\|r you is our prayer. And we
pledge you that so long as you take
care of the home front, we’ll take
care of the war front."
But some of the letters were hu-
morous :
“I just happened to come across
one of your cards in the dilty bag
you give 1° hoys overseas. Thanks
a lot. Your doing a swell job. How
about one of the cuties down there
in Texas writing me a letter. I'd ap-
preciate it very much—they say
the cow girls are pretty—how about
proof.—A sailor.”

THESE ARE AMERICAN SOLDIERS GOING INTO ACTION. You need not worry about their
flinching or failing—no matter what tough going they may meet. You can count cn them to do
what we’re asking of them—to pay, with their lives if need be, the price of victory. But victory
cannot be bought by these men alone. V/e’vc got to pay our share of the cost too. This month,
that share is at least $100 extra—over and above all other buying—in U. S. War Bonds, for
every man and woman in this country. Invest your share—today!
