of the bills Congress has passed or
rejected, giving the number of votes
each way. It rates the members of
Congress on their voting records on
matters of interest to NFIB members
and provides these ratings to the
members before each national elec-

Owens will cover the organization
and function of the NFIB and review
the current status of the proposed

developments.
He will also address: What are the
major issues for small and independ-

to contact?
Owens made this presentation in
Devine last month and it was so well
received that it was scheduled agai,

King member of
conservative group
State Rep. Tracy O. King was ac-
cepted as a member of the Texas
Conservative Coalition at the group's
annual meeting held Jan. 29.
The Texas Conservative Coalition
was established as a platform for
conservations to express their views
and positions. Its objective is to up-
hold, maintain and promote conser-
vative values and to encourage the
application of those values to current
public policy.
John Boehle addressed the court as
a concerned resident of the subdivi-
sion. "Go tell Francis Haby, (the real-
tor coordinating the resubbing) that
he has a lot of unhappy campers,"
Boehle said. "I have talked to nearly
all of the property owners and not one
of them is in favor of this."
"We're also concerned that other
owners wishing to make money may
be templed to subdivide their tracts
for dollars," he continued.
Ihe titiacM far tiring rock an active

everyone fek because I <Sdnt have
any public comment.’KeBer said. "If
we legafiy can do this iiealam going
to what these people want"
Several question were raised
about possible deed restrictions
which would prevent the lots from
being divided into smaller tracts.
The court agreed to do research an
the deed restriction in the subdivision
and consider the matter during the
March 3 meeting.
Other action considered by the
court includes:
• Commissioners received the cur-
rent jail population report The Med-
ina County Jail population consists
of 30 prisoners in Hondo. A total of
27 inmates are being detained in
Atascosa County.
• Bid authorization for a new or
used truck tractor, with or without a
belly dump trailer.
• Commissioners in Pets. 2 and 4
received authorization to seek bids
far a used automatic dump truck.

Board considers
addition to
old bank building,
land purchase
Local architect Ron Barbutti sub-
mitted floor plans to renovate the old
D’Hanis State Bank Building at
Tuesday's meeting. Delores Arcos
and Albert Lopez were absent from
the meeting.
He suggested adding approxi-
mately 1,680 square feet to the back
of the building. The addition would
provide more room for the admin-
stration offices, and restrooms for the
new softball field near the building.
The cost of the proposal is esti-
mated to be approximately $65,000
to replace the brick and renovated the
building, $112,000 for the new addi-
tion, and $21,000 to construct a park-
ing lot and do landscaping.
"The plans will be developed, we
will begin to take bids and if they are
acceptable we'll do the work, if they
aren't we won’t," Superintendent N.
E. "Bud" Woolls said. "Part of the
construction we would have to do no
matter what because of the new soft-
ball field."
Board members agreed to continue
to develop the plans and begin recei v-
