celebrate.
And that goes for a city
like Hondo, also.
The City will reach 100

the making for a big celebra-
tion. These plans are ex-
plained in a letter from
Mayor Woodrow Glasscock

Aircrafts to fill Hondo skies
Air Force cargo aircraft
will fill the air around Hondo
and DPanis Saturday and
Sunday, but area residents
need not get alarmed.
They will be C-130 aircraft
from the 433rd Tactical Air-
lift Wing from Kelly AFB,
taking part in an Operational
Readiness Inspection
"We will be undergoing
our first ORI since Decem-
ber of 1978,” said Col. Nor-
man Buescher, Hondo, direc-
tor of operations for the
famed Alamo Wing.
Col. Buescher continued:
“We will be demonstrating

were held September 9th strip at the Glasscock Ranch
and November 13,1980
As soon as plan work has
been completed and funds

near DPanis. These will
include light cargo, heavy
equipment and paratroop-
ers.
“We will have 14 of our
C-130 Hercules and expect
all of them to fly to fill the
requirement of 50 sorties in
two days.”
The director of operations
explained that a sortie is a
take off and a landing by an
individual aircraft. Planes
will be flying and demon-
strating drops Saturday
afternoon and evening and
Sunday afternoon.
‘They will be making
drops at around 500 feet
with the exception of’ para-
troopers,” Col Buescher
said.
