Weather Satellites
The first weather satellite was
launched in 1960. Since then
weather satellites have taken
more than 2.2 million pictures
and travelled more than 7.5
billion miles. Not one major
hurricane or storm has gone un-
detected. Thirty such satellites
have been put into orbit during
the past 15 years.
Teacher: In order for their
species to survive, animals must
breed regularly. Did you know
that? Dumb Denny: Of course.
If they didn’t breed, they’d suf-
focate.
BUDDY’S WORKSHOP
“Do-It-Yourself’ ’. —
But Take Your Time
After almost 50 years, I am ready to get into the “do-it-your-
self” game. I’ve always thought it best to hire someone who
knew more about repairs, etc., than I did but the cost, in-
convenience, even the difficulty in getting anybody to do any-
thing is getting to me. I just wonder, however, if» the high
cost of tools and equipment will have me spending more
money than I would spend by hiring things to be done by
others.
Tools are expensive but, if you are inexperienced in the “do-
it-yourself” game you would be foolish to stock up on saber
saws, routers and assorted pieces of equipment, some of which
you might use only once—or never. A better start would be
to pick a project that is not too complicated, then visit your
local library. There you should find an assortment of “fix-it”
and “do-it-yourself” books and manuals. You should be able to
find information pertaining to the project you have in mind—
and determine the tools that you will need. You don’t have to
buy expensive tools for one time use; it’s better to rent. This
is the way to go until you decide that you can fix-it yourself and
plan to continue so doing.
Is there an easy way to remove decals from appliances?
Cover the decal and surrounding area with a wet cloth and
press with a hot iron. The steam should loosen the decal within
a few minutes—but take care to press over the wet cloth only.
”... And besides, I don’t think a regular night light
would use THAT much electricity.’
