About 890 Texas cities will
receive sales tax rebate checks
totalling $53.8 million this

per cent increase over calendar
year 1976. Comptoller Bob Bul-
lock said 1977 was a banner year
for merchants, and the coming
year will be as good or better.
Eight cities got sales tax checks
totaling $1 million or more for
the month.
