CHURCH BRIEFS
By Ruth Kerley
Someone gave our church a
beautiful surprise this past week.
We found it, as well as the fel-
lowship hall, adorned with some
beautiful flowers and immacu-
lately clean.
Our Mother’s Day service
began with A.B.’s devotional
from II Cor. Our Sunday morn-
ing Bible study was especial-
ly good with comments from
everyone in attendance.
The message Brother Wayne
brought Sunday reminded us
that the love of a mother resem-
bles the love of God for us. I
think all the mothers there, as
well as everyone else, got a real
blessing from it.
The evening service was
a little short but we enjoyed
the music and the message by
The Country Baptist Church
Donna Jones
We hope everyone had a good
Mother’s Day. There was much
exitement as we gathered to hear
what the Lord had in store for
us. This brought us into our ser-
vice with Bro. Bobby leading in
song and then a devotional on
needing to listen more and talk
less from Ecclesiastes. We were
then dismissed in prayer to go to
our classes.
The young people studied
from Jeremiah on how to trust
and obey and leave the results
to God.
Donna led the adult class with
a lesson about “Responding to
the Holy Spirit.”
We were blessed to have sev-
eral more come and be with us
as we gathered again for wor-
ship. We enjoyed all the moth-
ers and their families being with
them on this special day.

Our Mother’s Day Celebra-
tion included recognition of our
mothers with the children hand-
ing out carnations to all.
The Celebration Choir sang
with Sonya Williams as soloist.
Jason Massingill sang the spe-
cial music for his mom since
he was in town for the day. Bro.
Robert and Bro. Ronnie did the
usual welcoming and announce-
ments. Bro. Joe’s sermon was
from Deuteronomy titled “Par-
ents as Teachers” and mothers
certainly are.
Our evening service was one
of gospel music presented by
The Harmony Quartet. Each
time they come they are bet-
ter than the last. It was a great
evening.
The North American Mis-
sions Annie Armstrong Easter
Offering has almost reached its
goal. The TEL meeting will be
on Tuesday, May 15 at 1:30 p.m.
in the fellowship hall.

Thought for the week: How
often must God prove to us that
He is the shepherd and we are
the sheep....that He is the vine
and we are the branches, before
we bow and quietly whisper,
“Have your own way, Lord?”
Have a blessed week.

that brightened their day. We are
all proud of our young people.

mandments] on your children.”
Deuteronomy 6:7a
Darren Brumit opened the
Sunday morning worship service
with announcements and a spe-
cial thanks to the volunteers who
helped paint the senior center on
Friday. After a special recogni-
tion of the mothers in the con-
gregation, Pastor Jason preached
from Deuteronomy concerning
maintaining godly homes in the
midst of changes. We ended the
service with a prayer of dedica-
tion for Kalie Beasley who is
leaving on a two-month mission
trip to Jordan.
Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.
we will have an AWANA Awards
Ceremony and end-of-the-year

participate in AWANA, you’re
invited to join the fun and help
us congratulate and encourage
the kids.
We appreciate everyone who
participated in fund-raising activ-
ities and who donated funds for
the youth mission trip to China.
The goal has been reached, and
the trip is fully funded. Please
pray for the success and safety
of the mission.
