Rains County Sheriff's Office Report
by Rains County Sheriff David Traylor
DAVID TRAYLOR
Rains County Sheriff
The Rains County Sheriff’s
Office took the following reports
of activity for the week of Febru-
ary 7-13:
Reports
2-7: Theft of property. Depu-
ties Edwards and Holt responded
to a call from a location on
CR 1402 where a female told
them that on the previous day,
she noticed that her storage shed
door was unlocked but wasn’t
concerned. She stated that she
later told her husband who found
that a plastic toolbox, assorted
tools, a Craftsman electric leaf
blower and a pink Daisy BB gun
were missing. The complainant
reported that the theft occurred
between 2:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
on the previous day.
2-7: Incident. Deputy Holt
reported that she contacted a
woman by phone who told the
officer that her [the complain-
ant’s] father died and while she
was out of state dealing with the
issue, family members entered
her property and removed a vehi-
cle. The woman explained that
the vehicle belonged to one of
the members, but she [the com-
plainant] did not want any of
them on her property due to past
and present family issues.
2-8: Incident. Deputy Fischer
responded to a call from a resi-
dence on CR 1402 where a com-
plainant told him that he found
his laundry room open again.
The complainant explained that
he reported it open during the
previous week and several items
were missing at that time but
on this date, nothing was miss-
ing. He provided suspect infor-
mation, and some evidence was
located and collected.
2-9: Incident. Deputy Fischer
responded to a call from a resi-
dence on S. Dunbar where a
complainant said that for about
the past four days, someone went
onto his property and tampered
with his vehicles. The complain-
ant further reported that his front
porch and vehicle had been toi-
let-papered. He stated that there
were footprints on the hood and
windshield of his wife’s vehicle
and during the previous night,
he heard a vehicle door shut and
looked out to see that the dome
light was on in his vehicle. The
complainant stated that he was
unable to see anyone.
2-9: Incident. Deputy Dooley
met with a couple at the Sheriff’s
Office who stated that they were
concerned about their grand-
children’s welfare. After Dooley
heard their concerns, he advised
them that they could not keep
the children away from a parent
without a court order.
2-10: Incident. Deputies Holt
and Edwards were dispatched to
a residence on CR 1626 where
the reporting person stated that
the residence was vacant and the
owner lived in the Dallas area.
The reporting person stated that
he noticed that some siding was
missing and a door was open.
Officers contacted the owner
who stated that he would come
to the residence and determine if
anything was missing.
2-11: Harassment. Depu-
ty Holt met with a woman at
the Sheriff’s Office who stated
that she was receiving harass-
ing emails, texts and phone calls
from an ex-boyfriend, and she
wanted him to stop but he contin-
ued. The complainant provided
a contact number. Holt reported
that she [the officer] contact-
ed the boyfriend and explained
that criminal charges could, and
would, be filed on him if he
continued.
2-12: Incident. Deputies
Fischer and Aly were called to

SKYWARN training Feb. 26
HAROLD CARR
Rains County
Environmental Enforcement
Mark your calendars for
Wednesday, February 26, as
the National Weather Service,
Fort Worth, will be in town to
present SKYWARN (Severe
Weather Recognition) training.
If you have never attended, or
it has been a few years since
you attended, you may want to
attend. It is an interesting and
informative program, as well as
free, This year the location will
change from Rose Community
Center to The AgriFife Center,
410 Tawakoni Drive (Hwy 276)
Emory, about 1/4 mile west of
the intersection of Hwy 69 and
Hwy 276. The AgriFife Center
has the capacity to seat more
participants than Rose Center.
Perhaps that change will bring a
larger crowd.
The presentation date is just
ahead of our regular severe
weather season. Come in and
enjoy the session. You will leave
prepared to recognize spring and
summer weather events.
Valentine’s Day was Friday
past. A sad story of unrequited
love was scattered over about 1/2
mile of CR 1280. This act is not
only disrespectful, it is illegal.
I am available for further
information on this matter or
environmental issues at 903-473-
5091 or at my office at 109 Wood
Street.

Obamacare
and its taxes.
