Major William D. Phillips
Information Officer

United States Army Primary Helicopter Center
Fort Wolters, Tex as 76067
Dear Major Phillips:
Thank you so very much for your recent letter regarding
the eleventh anniversary celebrations at the Primary Helicopter
School at Fort Wolters.
It aives me great pride to salute the military and civilian
members of the Fort Bolters command on the eve of their twelfth year
of outstanding service to the nation.
The war in Vietnam does indeed begin for the Army helicopter
pilot at Fort olters. Here he must be equipped with the latest
and best instruction and materials for the life-and-death assignment
ahead. And it is here that the Fort 4olters Aersonnel, both military
and civilian, make their significant, indeed invaluable, contribution
to the new and unfamiliar kind of warfare in Vietnam.
The helicopter has given United States forces a heretofore
undreamed-of mobility in warfare, and the record of its brave pilots
and crews trained at Fort Bolters speaks for itself, whether in terms
of a military objective gained, or a wounded comrade snatched from
death or capture by the enemy.
This opportunity to say a simple and heartfelt "thanks" to
you men and women of Fort Wolters would be wasted if I did not include
the sentiments and gratitude of all Americans, in whose defense you
share.
Please accept ,iy congratulations today. It is a deep honor
to share in your anniversary celebrations.
Good luck, and the best of wishes.
incerely,
lar ight.I
