Associated Press correspondent
Edgar Miller was held under
military guard briefly today in
Rio De Janerio in what mili-
tary authorities later describ-
ed as a misunderstanding.
A squad of armed security
agents entered the Associated
Press office during a raid on
an 'international cable company
located on the same flow.
Miller was ordered held when
he telephoned and failed to
obey ioijnediately an army offi-
cer’s command to hang up. He
fras taken to a station wagon
parked outside the building
until a representative of state
Governor Carlos Lacerdas’ staff
arrived to clarify the situation.
The officer commanding Hie
squad said the raid on the cable
contpaMp Was to seize cables
filed by Communist bloc cor-
respondents. The officer said
the cables were believed to be
a cover for transmitting se-
curity information out of
Brazil.
Miller was soon released and
told he eould resume filing dis-
patches. He was not harmed.

Four Charged
In Dope Raid
Corpus Christ!, Apr. 6 CP —
Four persons have been charg-
ed at Corpus Christ! in the
seizure of $300,004 worth of
raw marijuana.
The 220-pound shipment, be-
lieved en route from Mexico
to Miami, Fla., was confiscat-
ed in Corpus Christi.
Charged before U. S. Com-
missioner James Martin yester-
day were 20-year-old Josephine
Bushay and 84-year-old Jesus
Mena, both of Corpus Christi;
and two Miami men, 26-year-
old Jesus Blanco and 84-year-
old Hector Gonzales.
Police said Blanco was ar-
rested with the marijuana in
his car.
The three men are being
held in jail in lieu of $25,000
bond each. The woman’s bond
wu sat at $10,000.

The Red Cross says 666 fam-
ilies suffered property losees
in the tornado which hit the
suburban Sunset Terrace and
Lincoln Heights area uf Wich-
ita Falls.
The Red Cross conducted a
survey of the damage.
It showed 205 homes destroy-
ed, 95 homes with major dam-
age, 280 with minor damage,
20 house trailer* destroyed, 14
house trailers with major dam-
age, and six small bi
destroyed or damaged.
