A determined effort to break Jail

of Bherlff John B. Miller last Fri-
day, but Mrs. Miller, wife of the
sheriff, brought the attempt to
nought when she heard an unfam-
iliar noise In the cell quarters and
summoned help.
The sheriff found that one of
the bars had been sawed through.
A search of the prisoners was

entering at least five business

The number of qualified voters
for the county in 1981 Is a few
short of 1000, according to the
tax collectors office, vhidi closed

of January. Poll taxes will con-
tinue to lie paid, assessed along
with property renditions, but the
payers after January ill will not
be entitled to vote in any of the
elect Ion* of 1031.
Tlie county had 1412 poll tax
receipts Issued in 10T.0, a year of
primaries and one of interest to
the electorate. Tlie present 12-

Hereford Recreation club, In which
J, \V. Mobley, president, is defend-
ant. The case was called Wednes-
day morning, a special Jury se-
lected, and witnesses were being
heard Wednesday afternoon. There
was no indication us to when the
jury would be given the evidence
for decision.

Richards, district attorney, and
John A. Coffee, county attorney, Is
undertaking to prove that tlie club

each flush tank toilet. Hotels,
stores, barber shops, cafes are
covered In separate specifications.

The minimum permits a gallon,
age of 2,000. All In excess take
the following rates:
