Candidates File For Local Offices
Local school boards and city councils
will have all places filled following the
filings prior to the March 23 deadline.
Several races will be contested in the
May 7 elections.
Two places on the Archer City School
Board are being sought by Gary D.
Rowe, Jr., Donna "Teichman" Tettle-
ton, and Neal Meeks (incumbent).
Two out of three places on the Holliday
School board will be contested. Place 1
incumbent Dan Tucker will face Allen
W. Gilmore, and Becky Inman. Place 2
will have three candidates seeking the
spot vacated by James Parkey...Terry
Riddles, David L. Holub, and Kenneth
W. Bond. Place 3 incumbent Ralph
Surles is unopposed.
Three races have evolved on the Holli-
day City Council. Mayor Grady Graves

Ginger Berend and Amy Stewart, sen-
iors at Windthorst High School have
been named to the Te xas Sportswriters
Association All-State Volleyball Team.
Both girls were captains on the 1993
State Championship team.
Local Agency Expands
Dickey, McGann & Rowe, Inc.,
owned by G. Don Rowe and Gary D.
Rowe, Jr., has purchased the Ander-
son Agency in Olney. The change in
ownership became effective March 24.
The firm opened its first agency in
Electra in 1927 and added an agency in
Archer City in 1990. It will continue
the services currently offered and will
bring in additional companies to meet
the needs of the customers.
"As an independent agent, we always
try to fit the company to our
customers," stated Gary Rowe. "This
allows us to give the best coverage at
the lowest prices."

District Baseball Race
To Open Tuesday
The Archer City Wildcats will host the
Holliday Eagles next Tuesday, April 5,
to open the District 9-2A baseball race.
As of press time Tuesday, the Eagles,
who were playing Graham, were 8-1 on
the year and ranked #3 in the state in
Class AA. Thursday (today) they will
host Iowa Park at 6:30 p.m.
The Wildcats took a 6-1 record into
their Tuesday game with Bryson which
was going on at press time. AC will
travel to Vernon Thursday (today) for a
4:30 p.m. contest.
In last'weeks action, the Eagles rode a
2-hit effort by Josh Bobbitto'a 14-0, five
inning win over Henrietta. Blake Bel-
cher went 3 for 3 with a home run and 4

Turner and Bobbitt added doubles. On
Friday, Belcher and Skylar Kowalick
each had a home run as the Eagles out-
lasted Graham 8-6. Bobbitt and
McClendon added two-baggers. Bob-
bitt got the win, his sixth of the year
against no defeats, by relieving Clint
Norsworthy in the 6th inning. Belcher
pitched the first inning which ended in a
3-3 deadlock.
The Wildcats also won two games last
week. They defeated Windthorst 14-4
in 6 innings and Burkbumett JV 12-2 in
six innings. Freshman Derek Wulhrich
got the Tuesday win for AC by giving up
4 hits in 5 frames. Todd Henry came on
in the sixth to close out the Trojans.
Bandy Bowen went 2 for 2 at the plate
including a double and scored 4 runs.
Patrick Collier was 2 for 4 with a home
run and 2 RBI’s. Lawrence Lobpries had
a home run for the Cats, and Cory
Campbell added a double.
Lynn Schroeder and Cody Wolf
shared the mound duties for the Trojans.
Schroeder and J. C. Lankford each had a
double in 3 trips to the plate. Matt
Schreiber also went 1 for 3.

Amy Stewart Ginger Berend
Ginger is the daughter of Tom and
Mary Jo Berend of Windthorst and Amy
is the daughter of Debbie and the late
Billy Stewart. Both girls plan to play
volleyball at Midwestern State Univer-
sity in the fall.

The Commissioner's Court of Archer
County met in regular session at the
Courthouse on Monday, March 28,
1994, and approved the following or-

Order to approve supply bills.
Order to approve resolution concern-
ing Federal and State unfunded and
underfunded mandates.
Order to approve special warranty
deed for Megargel ISD, Lot 15, and 16,

SHAKESPEARE'S FAIRY KINGDOM. The ACHS drama department presented
Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to the public Saturday night. The
one-act play will be presented at UIL competition in Vernon today. Pictured (1-r) are

off for a visit in Archer City during a Saturday tour of the North Texas area.
Archer City Kid
Baseball League
Registration Underway
The Archer City Kid Baseball League
registration is well underway. Registra-
tion will be Saturday, April 2, at the
Activity Building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Any child or team from Holliday,
Megargel, Lakeside City and Wichita
Falls is encouraged to participate in the
league. For more inforamtion, contact
Danny Hopkins at 574-2425 after 6 p.m.
4-H Easter Egg Hunt Set
For Saturday
The 4-H sponsored Easter Egg Hunt
will be Saturday, April 2, at the City
Park in Archer City. Registration will
begin at 9 a.m. with the hunt beginning
around 10 a.m. Children from 1 month
through 5th grade will be allowed to
hunt eggs and the park will be marked
off into age divisions. For more infor-
mation call Karren Winter at 574-4785.
Germania To Hold
Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of Germania Local
136 will be held Monday, April 4,1994,
at 8:00 p.m. in the Scotland Knights of
Columbus Hall. All members are wel-
come.
Immunization Clinic Set
In Archer City
The Texas Departmsnt of Health will
conduct an Immunization Clinic at the
Texas Department of Health on Wed-
nesday, April 13,1954 from 2 to 4 p.m
at 410-1/2 E. Chestnut in Archer City.
Immunizations will be offered against
DPT, polio, measles, mumps and ru-
bella. Please bring immunization rec-
ords with you to the clinic. A parent or
legal guardian must accompany a mi-
nor. We also offer the tetanus 10-year
booster immunization for adults. If your
child/children are medicaid eligible,
please bring their current card.
Egg Hunt This
Saturday
The Windthorst Young Homemakers
will be sponsoring the annual Easter
Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 2, at 1
p.m. in the City park. Bring your little
ones out and let them have lots of fun.
There will be candy and toys for every-
one! Age groups will be: Up to 3 years;
4 years-kindergarten; and lst-3rd
grades. In case of bad weather, the hunt
will be held on Monday, April 4, at 1
p.m.

Sponsor Easter Egg
Hunt In Sco tland
The Scodand Community Easter Egg
Hunt sponsored by St:. Boniface Chris-
tian Mothers will be held Saturday,
April 2 at 10 a.m. at the Knights of
Columbus grounds. Children through
the 5th grade will be allowed to hunt
eggs and they will be divided into age
divisions.
