Area Deaths
T. Marvin Britton , Jr.
T. Marvin Britton Jr., 76, died
Saturday, June 5, 1993 in Houston.
Services were Monday, June 7.
Arrangements were under the direction
of Pat H. Foley Funeral Home.
Mr. Britton was bom Jan. 28, 1917,
in Little Rock, Ark. He moved to Tex-
as when he was 12 years old. He re-
ceived his bachelor's degree from Tex-
as College of Mines, now the Univer-
sity of Texas-El Paso. He was a major
in World War II and served overseas
with the Air Transport Command as
director of supply and service. He re-
ceived his law degree from the Univer-
sity of Texas and moved to Houston
in 1947. He practiced law in the Gar-
den Oaks and Oak Forest areas for 35
years. He served as secretary of the
Houston Bar Association and was a
Harric County precinct judge for 20
years.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy
Crowell; a sister, Marrene Livingston
of Fort Worth; two sons, Tom III of
Houston and Bob of San Antonio; a
daughter, Barbara Phillips of Archer
City, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Annie Mae Washmon
Annie Mae Washmon, 65, of
Pasadena, Texas, died Thursday, June
10,1993.
A graveside service was held June 12
at South Park Funeral Home, led by
Douglas Neel of Olney, Texas.
Mrs. Washmon was bom in San
Antonio, Texas on August 16, 1927.
She is survived by her husband, C.V.
"Red" Washmon; a daughter Rebecca
Neel of Olney; a son, Stanley K.
Washmon of Pasadena, Texas; a sister,
Mary Good of Houston; and six
grandchildren.

Sunday, June 6, Lucille and Robert
Tedrow from Manard, Texas visited
Viola Lowack.
Monday, June 7, residents painted
plaster during craft time. Attending
were Jay Walsh, Flossie Ray, Anna
Scheller with Nay Starks assisting.
Tuesday, June 8, the Catholic
Daughters of America, Court #296,
Windthorst, hosted a bingo party and
lunch for all. Vising patients were
Louise Kom, Frances Veitenheimer
Lillie Wolf, Mary Beth, Pat Zotz,
Olives Ostermen. Jay Walsh, Tom
Maag, Anna Scheller, Frances Duren,
Flossie Ray, Gladys Kile, Jenell Haig-
wood were in attendance.
Wednesday, June 9, Brother Seivert
led the Wednesday Bible Study. June
Light played the banjo, Janice Alsup
played the piano and Hazel Lear led the
singing.
Sunday, June 13th, Ruth Moore
held Sunday School. Brother Alan
Brock of the Faith Memorial Baptist
Church held Sunday Services.
Speck Straun and Jaunita Hight
celebrate their birthdays this month.

Antelope Jamboree
Is Saturday, June 19
Antelope is having their monthly
Saturday night jamboree June 19 at
6:00 p.m. at the Community Center
in Antelope. There will be homemade
cakes and pies, sandwiches and cold
drinks for sale. Admission at the door
will be $1.00 for adults and .50 for
children. Door prizes will be given.
All musicians are invited to partici-
pate in the program and the public is
invited to come and enjoy the good
music.
Archer City Jamboree
Will Be June 26
Archer City is having its 4th Sat-
urday night Jamboree June 26. Doors
open at 5 p.m. Music begins at 6 p.m.
at the Activity Building in Archer
City. There will be homemade pies,
sandwiches, cold drinks and coffee for
sale. Admission is $1.00 for adults and
50 cents for children. Door prizes will
be given.
All musicians are invited to parti-
cipate in the program and the public is

Paden Laine was bom June 9,1993.
She weighed 71bs. and 14oz and was
20 inches long. She is the daughter
of Kent and Kim Lemons of Hol-
liday. Paden was welcomed home by
big sister Jorden and big brother Lan-
drey.
Grandparents are Walter and Judy Le-
mons of Wichita Falls and Murl Y.
Vonne Butler of Hollis, Oklahoma.
Great Grandparents are Hoyt and Mur-
ed Ellis of Hollis, Oklahoma, and
Bill and Granny Lemons of Welling-
ton, Texas.
GRANT AWARDED TO
LITERACY COUNCIL
The Wichita Adult Literacy Council,
Inc. is the recipient of a grant from the
Texas Literacy Council in Austin in
the amount of $22,107. The grant is
for a Summer family literacy project
and will fund three agencies that will
be working together to provide quality
literacy instruction to parents and their
pre-school age children.
The other agencies involved are Com-
munity Action's Head Start project,
Region IX Education Service Center
Adult Education Consortium and Nor-
tex Regional Planning Commission.

Church of Christ
Celebrates 65 Years
The Church of Christ in Archer City
will be celebrating their 65th anniver-
sary with a gospel meeting June 20-
23. The meeting will fearure preachers
who either have preached for the con-
gregation in the past or have personal
ties with it. The theme for the gospel
meeting is "Coming Home to God."
Sunday services will begin with Bible
classes at 10:00 a.m. The morining
worship service will be at 10:50 a.m.,
and Clay Mims, of Wichita Falls, will
be speaking on "Home Is Where the
Heart Is." After a dinner-on-the-gro-
unds and congregational singing, the
second worship period will begin at
2:30 p.m. with Darel Bell, of Abilene,
speaking on "Solutions for Spiritual
Homelessness."
The meeting will continue Monday ni-
ght with Rex Schrum, of Coweta, Ok-
lahoma, speaking on "We ARE
Home." Larry Suttle, of Wichita
Falls, wil speak Tuesday night with
"At Home in Triumph." Scott's father,
James Scott, had been a minister at Ar-
cher City. Weeknight services will be-
gin at 7:30 p.m. Current minister, Bar-
ry Wiseman, will be leading the song
services.
The congregation extends a special inv-
itation to all past members and other
friends to join them for the meetings
as well as the dinner-on-the-grounds
Sunday at noon, and for fellowship
time after each weeknight service.

From Three Day TVip
The Jr. High Sunday School Clan of
First United Methodist Church in Ar-
cher City has just returned from a three
day trip to Amarillo. The class enjoyed
ing they attended worship service at
First Methodist Church in Clarendon
and then returned home.
