St. Mary’s
Birthday Ball
Celebration
On April 25, junior and senior
members of St. Mary’s parish and
the community of Windthorst gath-
ered at St. Mary’s parish hall for the
annual St Mary’s Birthday Ball.
Students in kindergarten to 6th
grade represented their classes in
the Birthday Ball court. A box sup-
per auction and raffle was held with
proceeds going to retire the debt on
the renovations to the school build-
ings. The students enjoyed an
evening of dancing with music pro-
vided by Raymond Veitenheimer.
The senior guests were treated
to dinner and had an enjoyable time
visiting with family and friends. A
“Wall of Fame” was a focal point of

Citizen Emergency Team
Archer County Judge Gary
Beesinger and the county’s
Emergency Management
Coordinator, Kelly DeSautel
have taken preliminary steps and
are working together toward cre-
ating Archer County’s first
Citizen Emergency Response
Team (C.E.R.T) which would
function to provide manpower
assistance and other resources
during times of emergencies or
disasters that might occur within
the County. “In the two plus
years I have been in office,
Archer County has had to deal
with flooding, fires, hurricanes
and now a flu epidemic,” stated
Judge Beesinger. “These emer-
gencies and disasters create a
need for additional manpower
and resources to aid and assist
during times when those very
things may be in short supply,”
he added. As an example, Judge
Beesinger pointed to the recent
