survey by the Federal Reserve
Board shows consumer income
has gone up this year at a
greater rate than buying —
which also has been on the rise.
The board notes these three re-
sults:
modern distance-measuring equip-
ment and directional navigation
service.
The system will retain and ex-
pand the system of civilian direc-
tional stations across the country.
They use very high frequency
omni-directional radio range. But
the present distance measuring
equipment used by civilian sta-
tions will be abandoned -in favor
of similiar equipment used by the
military.
The decision ends a conflict of
several years standing which fig-
ured in a congressional investiga-
tion. The argument arose from
the fact that millions had been
spent in developing rival systems.

studies to determine the relative
merits of two guided missiles—
the Talos and the Nike.
The move apparently is an ef-
fort t,o resolve whut a House com-
mittee has called squabbling
among the services as to which

Both the Talos and Nike mis-
siles are surface-to-air weapons.
The Talos was developed by the
navy, the Nike by the Army. The
air force had adopted the Talos.
