DAIRY QUEEN’S OFFICIAL MASCOT “CURLY TOP” was a huge hit with Comanche
Kindergarten and Elementary students last week. He met the Kindergarteners at City Park and
the Elementary students in the school cafeteria to pass out Easter eggs.
HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW WINNER: Ryan Stephens, 6th grader in Comanche Middle
School, placed 2nd with his Heavyweight Red Angus Steer at the Houston Livestock Show and
Rodeo. His calf “Slim” was chosen by Ryan and his dad out of one of their pastures in Comanche
County right after “Slim” was born. Pictured, from left to right, are Ryan’s sister Molly, Ryan’s par-
ents, Rodney and Sheila Stephens, FFAAdvisor Marty Gifford, Roy Shackelford and Ryan Stephens.

There is a strong possibility
that the city will be put into
Stage II drought condition,
within a few weeks. Long
term weather reports show the
current drought and dry spell
will continue over the next
several months, or longer.
Keep in mind this restriction
could come at a moment’s
notice.
Just a reminder, City
Elections will be held on May
10. Vote for your candidate!
The garbage contractors
are beginning to see more and
more excess refuse street-side
by the poly carts. As per the
contract, the following is what
is allowable on designated
trash days:
• A full poly cart
• Two extra bags
• One bulk item
Please keep any excess
bags, bulk or trash at
your residence until your
designated pickup day. Failure
to comply will result in a letter
being sent to the residence in
violation. The letter states:
“Excess or illegal items will
not be removed. Items not
picked up must be removed
within ten (10) days of the
date on the letter or be subject
to citation for violation of
City Ordinance #4-2004”.
Thank you for helping us
get Comanche cleaned up!
TIGERS COMPETE AT REGIONAL TENNIS TOURNAMENT: Gustine had several
players competing in the Regional Tennis Tournament in Abilene on April 16-17. Pictured are

Waylon Salinas.

HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW QUALIFIER: Cash Cook,
5th grader in Comanche Middle School, placed 15th with his
Class 8 Medium Wool Sheep division at the Houston Livestock
Show and Rodeo.
Recently the Burn Ban was
lifted for Comanche County,
but please keep in mind that
burning trash in the city limits
without a permit is a violation
of fire code.
At this time, there is no
fee for the permit, but it is
still required if you plan on
burning trash within the city
limits. Also, keep in mind the
LADY EAGLES QUALIFY FOR REGIONALS: These
Sidney athletes participated in the Area Track Meet in Zephyr
on April 17, and are now headed to the Regional Track Meet on
April 25-26 in San Angelo. Great job and Good luck! Qualifying
were: (back row left to right) Taylor Hall (sophomore, 4th 400
M Relay), Coach Beam, Brenna Warren (junior, 4th 200 M,
5th 100 M, 6th Triple Jump); (front row) Tyler Hall (freshman,
4th 400 M Relay), Rosalin Munoz (sophomore, 2nd 3200 M
