Homecoming
continued from page 5A
noon, and all proceeds go
back into the community
and to help fund the next
homecoming. We also auction
off meat from the BBQ Cook-
off.
Since 2008 we have been
able to return $18,700 to
our community through:
scholarships, Fire Department,
4H Horse Club, Senior
Citizen Meals, repairs to the
Community Center, a covered
and fenced play area for the
Elementary School, Show
Fund for Animals, Cherokee
Boys Home, Stephenville
Children’s Home, and other
projects.
So if you like sweets, mark
the date on your calendar and
we will see you there!
Horseshoe Tournament
at Gustine
Saturday, May 24 is
our annual Horseshoe
Tournament. Registration
is at 12:30 pm, with play
beginning at 1:00 pm at
Gunter’s dryer shed.
The entry fee is $20 per
team. There is a 100% cash
payout depending on the
number of teams: 10 teams
pays 2 places, and 20 teams
pays 3 places. NHBA rules
are 30’ for ladies and 40’
for guys. We will play to 21
points, with 1 point for lean
or within 6 inches, and 3
points for ringer. It is a double
elimination tournament.
So get your partner and
be there to see who wins
bragging rights for this year!
Washer Tournament
If you are a washer player,
I have great news for you. On
Saturday, May 24, Gustine is
having its annual homecoming
celebration, and the Washer
Tournament begins at 10:00
am at the Gunter’s dryer shed.
Registration is at 9:30 am.
The fee is $10 per team. State
Washer Rules apply: 5 points
for a Ringer, 3 points for
Lean, and 1 point for Close.
Total is 21 points. Play will be
at Gunter’s dryer shed.
Call your partner and
make plans to spend the day
in Gustine having a great time
with friends.
