of The Sentinel, two mistakes
were made concerning arrests by
the Gaines County Sheriff’s
Department. t

the Matters of Record" column,
hut they were placed in the wrong
order, and were in the Police
section of the column instead of

9/27-At 4:56 p.m., Sheriff’s
officers responded to a
disturbance two miles north and
two miles west of Higginbotham,
where they arrested a man
identified as Peter Rempel, Rt. 1,
Box 137, for public intoxication.
He was arraigned before
Seminole Justice of the Peace
Mary Parrott, where he paid a
fine and court costs of $150 and
was released.
9/27-At 11:32 p.m., Sheriff’s
officers were called to a location
one-quarter mile east of the state
line on Farm-To-Markel Road
1757, where a vehicle was on the
side of the road with its
headlights on.
Officers arrested Manuef
Portillo, 24, of Friona for public
intoxication. He was taken before
Judge Parrott, where he was
assessed a fine and court costs ol
$150 As of presstime, he was
still ifkjail.

9/28-Police were called by a
complainant who told them, her
son had been assaulted with a
steel pipe while he was at the
athletic fieldliouse.
9/29-A Seminole man was
arrested for driving while
intoxicated after police noticed
him speeding and his vehicle
with a headlight out.
Police investigators said the
man, identified as Randy
Quisenberry, 26, of Box 822, was
stopped in the 100 block of
Northeast Avenue D. After
stopping him, police said they
noticed the strong odor of
alcohol, slurred speech and that
the man was swaying as he
walked. The man refused a breath
test.
9/30--At 7:45 p.m.,’ a
complainant in the 500 block of
Southwest 23rd Street told police
that a person oQpersons unknown
had shot the sliding glass window
on their motor home with a BB
gun or pellet gun, causing $150
Crime Line Awards
Reported to the Gaines County Sheriff’s office at 11:43 a.m. on
July 6 was a burglary three miles east of Seminole. Burglars
apparently entered an enclosed porch and took $170 worth of items.
The case is pending investigation.
Reported to the Gaines County Sheriff’s office at 4:27 p.m. July 7
was a theft of three meters, valued at $365, three miles east of the
New Mexico State Line on Nadine Road. The theft occurred at the
M.C. Riley Lease. The case is pending investigation.
Reported to the Gaines County Sheriff’s office at 8:45 a.m. July 8
was an incident of vandalism two miles south of Denver City on
State Highway 214. A windshield on a scraper was broken, causing
$175 in damage. The case is pending investigation.
* Reported to the Gaines County Sheriff’s office the latter part of
July was the theft of a 16-foot blue utility trailer with white striping
from Gaines County Farm Supply. The two-axle trailer also has a
two-inch ball hitch. The case is pending investigation.

to the arrest and/or indictment of the person or persons responsible
for committing an offense.

PICKUP FIRE-The motor of a pickup belonging to Pablo Martinez was destroyed as the result of
a fire Tuesday on the Frankel City Highway near Paul's Grocery. Martinez told firemen his vehicle :
died and then he noticed smoke under the hood. No injuries were reported.
