FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT
The Fire Department has answered 50
alarms between June 1 and June 28. The
calls varied widely - tractor, car, grass
residence, burned food, major accident,
check for smoke, spilled gasoline, bird nest
in neon sign, mistaken alarm, hedge, train
wreck, television, trash, gasoline transport
leak, incinerator, resusciator (heart attack),
Hubbard Hall T. W. U., Science Building
N. T.S.U. , cooling tower, cat in tree, deep
fry, scrap lumber, hot wires, concrete forms
gas meter and tarpaulin.
The State Firemen's and Fire Marshals'
Convention wa s held in Ft . Worth , T exas ,
June 14, 15, and 16. Delegates attending
from the Denton Fire Department were Jack
Gentry, Joe Erwin, Robert Pitcock and Bob
Hagemann. Our racing team competed in the
races held on a Wednesday afternoon and
ran with a time of 22 .3, which was not good
enough to beat first place Rosenburg whose
time was 16.4 seconds.CLEAN --UP - The group of youngsters shown
above are doing a clean-up job in one of the
city parks . They are enrollees in the National
Youth Corps. The youngsters, both boys and
girls, are working all over the city at various
jobs this summer. Leonard Ehrler is the director
of N. Y.C. , and Crillon Pa yne , Jr . is s erving
a s coordinator .(
HEAVY EQUIPMENT - Shown in the picture

Herman Brown working in and around one of the
heavy pieces of equipment used by the electric
distribution department. Linemen call this a(
