followed by a reception at the
Rose Community Center for the
Queen khd her court The table
was beautifully arranged and
punch and cookies were served to

JlDOING HELD FRIDAY
By Friday it was a bit warmer
ami the Judxiiift of all entiles be-
gin. First to be Judged were the
General Exhibits Find place in
this division went to Rarity Point
for their agriculture exhibit which
the Judge said was more in keep-
ing with the fair theme and was
considered educational to our boys
and girls, some of whom have
lived in town most of their lives
Second place went to the Emory
P-TA and third place went to the
Emory Cub Scouts Other inter
i sting exhibit* were (hose of the
Rains County Historical Society,
the VFW Auxiliary, the Pre-
School P-TA. the local FFA chap-
ter and of course, there was the
old stand-by, the Leader picture
board.
Commercial booths this year
added a great deal to the exhibits
with refiigeiatois und color TVs
displayed by Aabill TV’ and Ap-
plianor of Point, beautiful hand-
fooled saddles and feed supplies
by Potts Feed Store and the
Knight A Christian pump display
Hurt were also several com
mercial exhibits on thr ground*
such as tractors, trailers and sev-
eral beautiful boats
Farmers Electric Coop of
Greenville did a bang-up good
Job of furnishing all the kids with
balloons as well as passing out
souvenir* to the grownups Of
course, the most outstanding dis-
play was the LTV electronic ex-
hibit

The Women's Division was also

Saturday afternoon the Canton
High .school band stepfied out in
grand style to lead the annual pa-
rade. Entries included the
Rainette* and Cheerleaders, Miss
Rains County, her court, a visaing
duchess fiwn Hopkins County,
Miss Sand Flat. Fannie Garrett,
and her runner-up. HoaU from
the Service Club, Emory P-TA,
Pre-School P-TA Helen's Beauty
Shop Bryant Boat Co.. Grand
Champion steer and the fanciest
decorated bicycle brigade you
ever saw- Probably the
two most popular entries weie
the Douglas High School Band of
Sulphur Springs and the Owens
Belgian Horse Hitch Mr Undley
of Yantis Mr Tunnell of Grand
Saline and Mr Childress of Dal-
las with their respective entries
of Shetland pony hitch and horse
and buggy, and Zetland gig, also
added much to the parade.

the Alba and Emory Riding
Clubs turned out in grand style.

very popular western band under
the direction of Bob Gunnels.

Fair is once again history. We
