KITTENS CHANCE FOR TITLE
BRIGHTENED BY VICTORY
Keeping their hopes
alive for the district race,
the Kittens outscored Hol-
liday in every department.
The Eagles never had much
of a chance as they were
behind 13 points at half.
The Kittens came back the
second half to make the
score a bO - 20 victory.
David Cheves was the big
gun for the locals with 16
points while Lonnie Maag
and Jerry Stults contribu-
ted 8 and 7 respectively.
Buz Miller paced the losers
with 10 points.

Suffering their second
loss in district to Knox
City 3b~33, the Archerettes
made a great come back by
pulling past Paducah $3~hh»
Barbara Wylie led the girls
in both contest’s by rack-
ing in 23 and 32, respec-
tively. An outstanding job
of scoring was done by the
other forwards, Debbie Car-
ter put in 7 and b, Harola
Adkins 2 and 8, Kerri Mat-
thews 1 and 9* Congratula-
tions must go out to the
guards for holding up their
end of the court.
For 11 - A Title
Friday, the 26th, the
girls were victorious on
home ground as they rolled
past Crowell 78-33* Scor-
ing in double figures were
Barbara Wylie with 23, Ker-
ri Matthews with 19, Deb-
bie Carter with 17, La Nell
Mobley 10, and Harola Ad-
kins finished out with 9*
The guards seeing lots of
action were: Mindy Rod-
gers, Belinda Hudson, Susie
Wallace, Sharon Petit,
Debie Martin, and Becky
Crow.
January 2^, the Petro-
lia Pirates, with the as-
sistance of Marria's lU
points and Willard’s 13
defeated the Kittens by a
score of 2b-39. David
Cheves was high for the
locals with 11 points.
Girls Receive
New Uniforms
Archerettes received
new suits to finish out
the season. The suits are
composed of black and white
tops which zip up the front
and black shorts to match.
The suits had a psycho-
logical effect on the girls
because on their first ap-
pearance in them a very
decisive victory was a-
chlevad.
Wildcats (Purchase
Lette r men's Rings
Several members of the
"A" Club, who were inter-
ested in the idea, have
recently ordered rings de-
noting that group.
Coach Wood ordered a
sample of the ring and put
David McDaniel in charge.
David took sizes and col-
lected the m o n ey. The
rings were four dollars
and will be silver with a
black top on which the
words "A Club" will be
written. One side will be
designated with an engrav-
ing of a "Wildcat", while
the other side will have a
symbol standing for educa-
tion.
Wildcats Enjoy successful Week
In District ll-A 'Roundball Action
In a decisive victory
of 55-bb, Don Petty and
Rusty Denning led the scor-
ing with 10 points, over
the Knox City Greyhounds.
Other scorers were Allen
Campbell with 9, Ricky
Cheves with 8, PaulSchlabs,
with 6, and Mike Atchley,
Earl Schlabs, and Kerry
Bowen fin i shed out the
scoring with 2.
The Wildcats gave first
place Paducah a run for its
money but the final buzzer
came with the Dragons ahead
72-68. An outstanding de-
fensive job was preformed
by Petty, Cheves, Campbell,
Atchley, Denning, Teichman,
and Bowen.
Scorers were Petty with
2h, Cheves 11, Atchley 10,
Bowen 7, and Denning and
Paul Schlabs with 6.
The A.C. Cats were vic-
torious over the Crowell
pack 6b-E>2. Petty led the
scoring with 19 points,
followed by Atchley with
12, Teichman and Bowen with
8, Cheves with £, Earl and
Paul Schlabs with b, and
Denning finished out with
3 points.
The Wildcats have b wins
and £ losses in district
play.
TRIGG SUFFERS ACCIDENT
IN BASKETBALL PRACTICE
Thursday, during bas-
ketball practice Eddie
Trigg took control of the
basketball, as he began
his forward dribble down
the court, he was well
guarded by Paul Schlabs
and Ricky Cheves. Just as
Eddie was in the air to
shoot a lay up, he was
knocked against a wall pad
using his left arm as pro-
tection against the fall.
After a quick glance Dr.
Schlomach diagnosed it as
a break right behind the
wrist. The cast will be
removed in 6 weeks.
VOLLEYBALL TOURNEY ENDS
Well, volleyball action
has really been hot this
week. Each match was the
best’ out of three.
The two girl’s teams,
the Sissies con s is t ing
mostly of sophomores, and
the Bulldogs, captained by
Raylette Luig, were dead-
locked at one game apiece.
The girls wrapped up their
division Friday, January
26, with the Bulldog’s win-
ning.
In the boys matchups
The Losers were eliminated
in two straight games by
the Invaders. The Invad-
ers then faced the task of
defeating the Spikers,
The Invaders and Spikers
played one game, with the
Spikers taking it l£ to 12.
Monday, Jan. 29, the Spi-
kers again won.
