Founder's Day celebration
International Training in Communication of Corpus
Christi will hold their annual Founder's Day Celebration
Saturday, Oct. 27 at 12 noon at the Holiday Inn Emerald
Beach. This year's theme is "Expanding Horizons" and the
aim is "A Celebration of Growth." 1TC is a non-profit
organization whose objective is to train individuals in
communication and leadership skills. For more informa-

Spookfest
St. Theresa Church and School, 1212 Lantana, Corpus
Christi, will hold its annual Spookfest, Sunday, Oct. 28
front i 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be beef barbecue for S4
per plate, with rice, beans, dessert and drink, a country
store, auction and a costume contest for adults and chil-
dren. The Domingo Show will be broadcast live from the
festival.
Halloween Carnival
St. Philip the Apostle Church, 35 -3 Cimarron Rd. (off
Saratoga), will hold its annual Halloween Carnival, Satur-
day, Oct. 27 from 6-10:30 p.m. There will be games, food
and a fantastic raffle. Everyone is invited.
Style show
Zomaof Corpus Christi will hold its annual style show
and brunch “Pennies From Heaven,“at the Corpus Christi
Country Club, beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3.
The show will benefit Halo Flight Service of South Texas,
the only air ambulance service providing quick transport
and professional medical care critical in emergency situ-
ations. Zonta is an international executive womens or-
ganization dedicated to the advancement of women through
professional development and community service. Tick-

Rummage sale
The Evangelizers of Sacred Heart Church, Corpus Christi
will be having a rummage sale in the grotto next to the
church, 1308 Comanche, on Friday, Oct, 26 from 8 a.m. -
4 p.m.
Religious Retirement Fund
In the report listing the distribution of grants from the
Retirement Fund for Religious 1989 appeal (South Texas
Catholic, Aug. 31,1990) one recipient was inadvertently
omitted; the Sisters of the Holy Spirit, San Antonio, who
have several Sisters ministering here in the Diocese of
Corpus Christi, received a grant of 549,891.38.
Cathedral celebration
Friends of the Cathedral will hold their preview party,
from 7-9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26. This event will mark the
beginning of Corpus Christi Cat hcdral's gala 50th anniver-
sary celebration, scheduled for Oct. 26-28. For more

Halloween Carnival
St. Pius X School, 747 St. Pius Drive, will hold its
annual Halloween Carnival, Wednesday, Oct, 31 from 6-
9 p.m, in the back of the school. There will be food,
entertainment, including the scary, "Danger Zone II."

Christmas Show
The Corpus Christi Cathedral Pontifical Chorale will
appear with the Andy Williams Christmas Show, Nov. 29

Overnight Spook-tacular
TheCorpus Christi YMCA will host its annual Hallow-
een Overnight Spook-tacular from Saturday, Oct. 27 to
Sunday, Oct. 28 at the downtown YMCA facility. The
event is limited to lOOchildrcn from 5 to 12 years old. The
festivities will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday and conclude at 8
a.m. Sunday. Cost is S10 per chi Id with a costume and h i 2
per child without a costume. There will be bobbing for
apples, a haunted house, a costume contest, face painting

Amateur radio club
The Corpus Christi Amateur Radio Club will operate in
the peaceful environment of Lake Corpus Cl *-'i at the
Benedictine Retreat Center Oct. 26-28.They wis.-'-smon-
strate radio communication skills under a civil detense
exercise, under a hurricane-hkf situation, without power
from commercial power lines, etc. All amateurs arc in-
vited to contact the station during its operation or come
and operate here; hobbyists who monitor radios arc in-
vited to listen and those who have always wanted to
operate a ham station will be able to do so under licensed
operators, as far as the law permits. Confirmed contacts
will receive a verified report (QSL). For more informa-

Pilgrimage
There will be a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe in
Mexico City, Dec. 17-20. The pilgrimage will be led by
Father Jesus Garcia. The pilgrimage will include the
procession with the Blessed Mother and the Mass at the
main altar of Our Lady of Guadaslupe. For more informa-

Memory walk
The Coastal Bend Chapter of the Alzheimer's Associa-
tion will hold a memory walk, Saturday, Nov, 10, with a
five-mile course, five-mile fun run. The walk will start at
Heritage Park (in front of the Multicultural Center) at 8
a,m, with registration at 7 a.m. Sponsors for this event arc
Lutheran Brotherhood, Gulf Coast Branch #8448; C.C.
Roadrunners, RRCA and Westwood Manor.
Halloween Carnival
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Corpus Christi, will have a
Halloween Carnival and Youth Haunted House, Oct. 31,
at the Church parking lot, 540 Hiawatha, from 6-10 p.m.
There will be games, a costume contest, pumpkin carving
contest, cake walk and much more.
Laredo festivity
The Parish community of St. Jude, Laredo, joyously
celebrate the festivity oftheir patron Saint,Thiscvcnt will
be on Sunday, Ot t. 28 at 6:30 p.m. The Very Reverend
Msgr. James A. Tamayo will preside over the concelcbra-
tion.
Ha'loween Carnival
Ss. Cyril & Methodius School's annual Halloween Car-
nival will be held Sat., Oct. 27, from 4-9 p.m. at the school
grounds, Kostoryz and S.P.I.D. There wi II be games, food,
bingo, drinks, and much more.
Mediators needed
Dispute Resolution Services needs volunteers willing to
assist peopiC in resolving their disputes. Training of vol-
unteer-mediators will be held the Island 3rd weekendsof
November. Coastal Bend residents interested in becoming
a Community Mediator should contact Edna dc los Santos

speaking volunteers are urgently needed.
Annual benefit dinner
St. George's Cemetery Association of George West will
serve their annua! turkey dinner this year on Sunday, Nov.
4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in St. George Hall. Price is S4 and
will consist of a heaping plate of turkey and all the
trimmings. Take-out dinners arc availablc and everyone is
welcome.
Monte Carlo night
Oscar Romero Junior High School will be having Monte
Carlo N ight, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at King's Crossing in Corpus
Christi. Tickets arc S20 which provides dinner and S5,000.00

Carmel Seafest
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1003 Austin St. in
Portland will hold their 3rd annual Carmel Seafest on
Sunday, Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A complete seafood
dinner will be served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Plates are S4.50
for adulis and S2.50 for children. Take-out plates are
available. There will be food booths, face painting, clowns,
arte and crafts ant: much more. Proceeds will go toward
