Survivors after suicide
Survivors After Suicide is a support group for anyone
whoso friend or family member has died through suicide.
The support group meets once a month, on the first
Tuesday of the month. The meetings start at 7 p.m. at the
Bay view counseling center, 4529 Weber Road. This month's
meeting will be October 3.
Suicide hotline volunteers
Volunteers are needed for the suicide hotline. Training
will be provided free of charge, Cali 993-9700 lor more
information on volunteering and perhaps saving a life.
Clinical pastoral education
An extended unit of Clinical Pastoral Education will be
offered at Memorial Medical Center begining in mid-
October for clergy and laity. The program provides con-
tinuing education in pastoral care. U is accredited by the
Association for Clinical Pastoral Education and seminary
credit may be received. For more information, call Chap-

In cooperation with the government of Mexico, the
United States Postal Service now offers a direct money
order service to all addresses in Mexico, except post
office boxes. A person in the United Slates can purchase
a money order from any post office, fill in the name of the
person or business to whom it is to be paid, and mail it
directly to Mexico. The only person who can cash this
special TfflBfij order is the person in whom it is made

II you like learning about oilier cultures and working
with teenage!s. become a volunteer area representative

International is a non-profit organization which is dedi-
cated to fostering international understanding through
cultural exchange of high school and junior college .stu-

students apply to become exchange students, interview-

Harvest festival
The 3rd Annual Harvest Festival sponsored by St John
of the Cross parish will be held on Sunday. Oct. 7 at the
church grounds in Orange Grove. A barbecue heel dinner
will be served in the Catholic Center from 11 a.m. to 1
p.tn. lorS4 per person. There will be family entertainment
beginning at noon with games, prize bingo, auction, car
races, and much more. A familv dance w ill be held at the
O.G. Rifle Club Hall from 6 to 10 p.m.
Youth Ministry training
The Youth Ministry Institute is a program of four sepa-
rate (three hour) sessions and one overnight retreat with
adults and youth. It is designed for adults who work with
young people (Jr. High/High School) as catechists, youth
group sponsors, and Religious Ed. Coordinators. Parishes
must send a minimum of three adults, unless adults from
that parish participated last year. The first session begins
on Saturday, Oct. 6. in Laredo or Sunday. Oct. 7. in
Corpus Christi. Participants who receive a certificate and
who complete a youth ministry project will be eligible for
credit toward commissioning in the Diocesan Pastoral

Vocation Awareness Week is October 14-20. Please call

The St. Vincent Dc Paul third annual donation drive will
be held from Sept. 28 through Oct. 6, in Corpus Christi.

Alliance for mentally ill
Corpus Christi Alliance for the Mentally III meets on

about mental illness will be the topic for discussion.
