C alendar/People
Valentine program
St. Martin’s School, Kingsville, will hold their an-
nual King and Queen Valentine Program on Feb. 13
at 7 p.m. at the Jose Mutualistas Hall. Everyone is
invited to attend.
Group relocates
Caring families is pleased to announce the reloca-
tion to two support groups to Charter Hospital, 3126
Rodd Field Rd., Corpus Christi. Couples will meet
on Mondays from 7:30-9 p.m.; 937-5203. Co-
dependency will meet Tuesdays from 7:30-9 p.m.;
884-9617. The Adult Children of Alcoholics group
will continue to meet Tuesday from noon to 1:30
p.m. at 1122 Santa Fe; 853-3477.
Essay contest
Christians and Jews is sponsoring an essay contest
for junior high and senior high school students dur-
ing Brotherhood Week, Feb. 14-20. The theme for
this year’s essay is Democracy Is Us...Risks, Rights
and Responsibilities. Essays should be between 300
and 400 words in length. The editorial staff of the
Caller-Times will serve as judges. All entries must be
in by Feb. 10 and should be submitted to the NCCJ
office at: 202 Oleander, Corpus Christi, TX 78404.
The author of the best essay will be recognized at the
annual Brotherhood Awards Banquet to be held in
April at the Hershey Hotel. In addition the winner
will receive a $100 U.S. Savings Bond. Second and
third place winners will receive a $50 savings bond.
Students from all area schools have been invited to
participate. For information, call 883-1329.
Educational series
Valerie Bullock, RN, co-dependency coordinator
at Charter Hospital, will speak Jan. 25 from 7:30-9
p.m. at the hospital as part of the hospital’s “Learn-
ing to Grow” series. Her talk is entitled “Co-
Dependency: When Loving Hurts.” Seating is
limited and registration is required. To register or for

‘WinterFest’
The annual ‘WinterFest’ will be held Feb. 12-13 at
Memorial Coliseum, Corpus Christi. There will be a
silent auction, craft market, free health screenings,
etc.

Men volunteers needed
Alameda Oaks Nursing Center (former Furman
School location) at 1101 N. Alameda, would deeply
appreciate a corps of volunteers to transport residents
who need wheelchair assistance going to the dining
room for breakfast, dinner and supper. Can you
spare a few hours a day, a week or even once a
month? Instructive guidance will be given to

Board of education meeting
The Diocesan Board of Education will meet on
Jan. 30 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at St. Gertrude
School, 400 East Caesar St., Kingsville.
Western dance
St. Pius X School Parent’s Club, Corpus Christi,
is having a western dance Feb. 6 from 8-midnight at
Moravian Hall. Music by Texas Sunrise and a dona-
tion of $15 per couple.
(Germanfest 3
The 6th annual "Germanfest” will be held Feb. 14
in Violet for the benefit of the Violet Museum. The
meal (offering sausage, sauerkraut, potatoes, green
beans, ect. with dessert and drink) will be served
from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; $4.50 per plate.
St. Vincent de Paul sale
The St. Vincent de Paul Store, 2302 Laredo St.,
Corpus Christi, will have a 10 cent-sale on Jan. 30
from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Items will include women’s,
men’s and children’s clothing and all winter clothes.

Seminary Burses are a permanent fund used for the
education of seminarians, deacons and priests of the
Diocese of Corpus Christi. The Interest earned by this
fund Is applied each year to their education and forma-
tion. Burses may be started In memory of any In-
dividual priest, Religious, or lay person, or for any In-
tention.”
The total cost of educating our priests, deacons and
seminarians during the fiscal year ended June 30,
1987, was $411,819. The total Income of $81,541 earn-
ed by the Burse Fund In the same period was applied
to defray this cost. The Burse Fund needs to grow to
$4,428,000 In order to eliminate this shortfall. Please
help our Burse Fund grow to meet that goal.
