healthy for your body and introduces
heavy metab to your brain. There
are some bottle waters where the
water is not that much better than the
faucet water. However, it is very
important to note that most bottle
water companies use water filtration
systems to remove many of the heavy
metals and toxins that were in the
water previously before being bottled
for our intake consumption.
Drinking good quality water is ex-
tremely beneficial for our improved
health daily. When you drink eight
glasses or as close to eight classes of
water daily your body will thank you
very much. If you are a person who
drinks one, two or three glasses of
water daily then you run the risk of
having a dehydrated body. This
causes many of your internal organs
not to function properly. Your liver
and your kidneys will suffer without
the correct amount of water intake
daily and dehydration over a period
of time will cause your kidneys and
liver to malfunction. If this occurs
then your doctor may inform you
that you need a liver transplant or
kidney dialysis as soon as possible.

Greeting Register Readers,
The news media has over the past
sevTbr^J months futnished the
American public with various tele-
vision and newspaper articles on
water.
The media discussed the pros and
cons of drinking bottled versu^non
bottled water. What is your personal
opinion regarding bottled and non
oouiea water ? Many of you today
are still drinking faucet water at
home. It is very important to note
that if you have high blood pressure
then it is very important that you
drink bottled sodium free water
starting today!
Sodium Free water has minus the
salt intake and is much better for
your body if you suffer with high
blood pressure at the present time.
Drinking faucet water at home is not
Crime Tip
Business Crime
Prevention
Businesses can take an active role in
helping to reduce the opportunity for
crime around their property by sim-
ply participating in a variety of crime.
prevention initiatives.
In the Nation, businesses are robbed
ten times more often than any indi-
vidual, they experience mostly
nighttime burglaries and they are the
only ones who suffer from shoplift-
ers. As a result, business owners and
managers must be cognizant of the
trends in Crime Prevention and Loss
Prevention to help decrease their
losses and increase their bottom line.
There are services for all business
owners and operators that are offered
by the San Antonio Police Dept.
Below I will list some of the programs
that are offered to each business es-
tablishment. These programs are
geared to help the business owner
and/or manager train his/her staff to
be safe and also maximize the profits
of the business.
Businesses can reduce their vulner-
ability to crime in many ways, for
instance, security measures like new
or better locks, alarms and lighting
can make an establishment look less
attractive to the criminal. Below
listed are some of the things that
business owners can do to "target
harden" their business.
♦Lighting: Lighting is the cheapest
:way to secure anything. Proper
lighting eliminates shadows which
can be used by criminals for cover.
Leave lights on in the business dur-
ing the nighttime hours. Lighting
should be uniform and evenly cover
the entire property.

HOPE ACTION &
. CARE .
Hello everyone, today I would like
to talk about a horrible experience I
had on our Eastside while visiting a
McDonalds in our neighborhood. My
family and I were about to venture
out of our State going on vacation
when we stopped at the McDonalds
on IH-10 and W. W. White Rd. It was
approximately 8 a.m. in the morning
and we stopped to get a breakfast
sandwich and some coffee. My
husband and daughter went in fnst
and then I went in. Upon first entering
the establishment I could smell the
filth. I went to their restroom and I
had to leave out it was so filthy. I.
refused to eat my food because the
restaurant was in such terrible shape
and it was also very smelly. My
nusband was first to consult the
manager of the nasty bathroom and
then without me knowing I asked for
the manager and told her about how
filthy the bathroom was. She was
actually laughing and playing while
we were talking and she thanked me
for telling her but made no attempt to
ask someone to go and clean
them up. The filth in this McDonald’s
is not dirt from overnight but filth
♦Doors: Inspect all doors for struc-
tural problems. Use heavy and solid
constructions and materials that are
drill-resistant. Backs of doors may
be reinforced by crossbars.
♦Locks: Secure all openings with the
best possible locks. No lock is
"burglar-proof', but good locks will
make the burglar work harder and
longer and risk detection. Use dead
bolts and/lte sure to re-key locks each
time an employee leaves that had
access to that area.
♦Windows: Inspect all windows for
signs of rotting or loose fitting frames
or panes. Be sure there is unrestricted
view into the outside the business.
Keep window clear of obstructions.
Usage of bars on windows may be
warranted. Install burglar-resistant
glass or use wire mesh or metal
grating as a means of reinforcing
windows.
♦Safes: Reduce the amount of cash
in the registers. Keep valuables and
cash in a safe that is anchored to the
floor and visible from the outside.
Change the combination of the safe
periodically. Install and use a drop
safe.
. *Store displays: Keep store displays
low and the mofct valuable mer-
chandise should not be in the window,
but near the middle of the store.
♦Roof: Make sure that entry cannot
be gained by the ventilation system
or skylights._____

that has been building up for some-
time.
My question is why is nothing being
done about this manager and her
way of keeping this facility. Is it
privately owned? If so then we should
stop eating there and call the Health
Department to make an immediate
inspection of this facility. I have ate
out of several McDonalds ad over
the state and I have never experienced
this type of filth and unconcern as I
did at this one on IH-10 and W.W.
White Rd.
Should our councilman Mario Salas
be aware of this? Yes! Should
something be done? Yes!! Please
help me make a difference in our
community. I have already talked to
some people and I am praying that
when I make my next visit things
will have changed. Have you ever
noticed that we never have restaurant
checks in our community on their
cleanliness? 1 have because I watch
the news all the time and 1 have never
seen them advertise the filthy {daces
we have to attend within our com-
munity.
Something should be done and 1 want
all my readers to know that I am
trying but I need help frtitn all of you
to make a difference. While we are at
it we might as well say something to
the city about our horrible streets
also. The Lord blesses us with new
cars and then our streets tear them
up. Our city councilman for District
2 is Mario Salas and he was elected
this time with no competition. Can
we see a difference? I can in some
places but in others I do not, let's give
him a holler and then be willing to
help.
