Slogan Designs Will
Bring Cash Prizes
The Office of Development has
announced that a contest is open
to all students and alumni of St.
Mary’s University to create a de-
sign and slogan to be imprinted
on outgoing St. Mary’s Univer-
sity mail.
The design and slogan should
be related to one or more of the
themes of the Office of Develop-
ment, such as, “The Great Teach-
ers Program,” “Toward a Great-
er St. Mary’s,” “Build a Greater
St. Mary’s,” and so on. The de-
sign and slogan, exclusive of bor-
der, must be fitted into a space
6 inches by 2 5/8 inches.
Three prizes of $15, $10, and
$5 will be awarded to the winning
entries. Designs and slogans will
be judged on the basis of artistic
presentation, eye appeal, and ap-
peal to action.
Entries must be postmarked
March 16 or earlier, or must be
delivered to the Office of Devel-
opment, Room 103 in the Admin-
istration Building on that date.
All entries become the property
of the Office of Development.
If at first you don’t succeed,
you are running about average.
Most arguments would be
spoiled if both parties knew the
facts
Settle one difficulty and you
keep a hundred others away.
In one parish little Johnny was
preparing for his First Com-
munion. He was so full of theo-
logical lore that he couldn’t keep
it all to himself. One day I over-
heard him chiding his three-year-
old brother about his irregular
attendance at Mass.
“If you don’t go to church,” he
warned, “you’ll go to hell.”
“I don’t care,” his little brother
said, tears streaming down his
cheeks. “I’ll only be there a cou-
ple of days and then mommy will
come and get me.”
