The Chicago While Sox used lo feel like they were Chicago’s step-child
hast boll team. Everything was Cubs, Cubs, Cubs. Well, that changed when
Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player ever, signed with the Nashville
Sounds, whose parent team is the Chicago White Sox. If he does well, he’ll
have on a W hite Sox uniform. The Sounds sold $60,000 worth of tickets since
the announcement, mostly season tickets at $360 a pop
Jordan says its no gimmick, he’s serious, so ill we or won’t we see Michael
Jordan on the Chicago White Sox roster this spring? Ihe world’s greatest
baseball player, who turned 31 this week, reported for training camp in
Sarasota, Morula, and reporters say, he couldn’t get around on pitches
(.tucked at 70 mph.’----

upcoming high school track season.
David Robinson, Dale Ellis, and Dennis Rodman are still among the top
five in the NBA in their specialities. Robinson is just 4 of a point behind
Shaquille O’Neal in scoring, averaging 28.1 points a game to O’Neal’s 28.5
as of Monday. Feb. 14. Robinson is also third in the league in blocked shots
per game, averaging 3.19 per game. Denver’s Mutombo and Houston’s
(Majuwon beat him out for the No. 1 and No. 2 spots
Dale Ellis is third in the league in 3 point field goal percentages, hitting .425
of his attempted 3 point shots. IX*nnis Rodman is the league’s runaway
leader in rebounding, averaging 17.6 rebounds a game, besting out #2 by a
(ull five rebounds.
You've heard of Mr Roger’s neighborhood and Mr. Robinson’s
neighborhood. Well, what about Mr. Rodman’s neighborhood. Dennis
Rodman cut a commercial with Mayor Wolff urging kids to turn in their guns
.i couple ol Saturdays ago. ITie ad will continue to air in upcoming Spurs
games: I le says he’s even willing to go into the neighborhoods and talk to
the knls if dial will help. It probably will, Dennis. If anyone can do it, you
can.

An article with your safety in mind

Make your car hard to steal
More than a million cars are stolen
in the U. S. each year, and literally
millions of others are stripped or
vandalized. Most of these cars were
easy prey because their owneisdidu’l
hike a few simple precautions that
make it hard on thieves. True, you
can’t make your car impossible to
steal. A professional thief can get in
in spite of your best efforts, but the
fact is, most cars are stolen by
amateurs, not professionals. So; it
will definitely pay to take a few extra
precautions.
What you can do:
• Lock your car with the windows
rolled up tightly every time you leave
it. A window that even slightly open
’ makes your car more vulnerable.
• Never leave your keys in the
ignition. Believe it or not, 40% of all
stolen cars had the keys in the
ignition.
• No matter how short the errand,
don’t leave your motor running. A
lot of amateur thieves hang out
around convenience stores and pay
phones waiting for a careless motorist
to come along.
• If you use valet parking, make
certain the attendant actually works
for the parking Iol Amateur thieves
sometimes pose as valet parking
- attendants and simply drive off with
your car after you hand them the
keys.
• Carry spare keys in your purse or
wallet Don’t hide keys under the
hood or anywhere else on or in the
car. Most thieves know all the hiding
places.
• When you park your car in the
driveway, back in with the engine
facing the street so anyone tampering
with the engine can easily be seen. If
you home has a garage, park y6ur car
inside it and lock both your car and
garage.
• Weather parking your car in your
driveway or on the street, turn the
steering wheel sharply to the left or
right before turning off the ignition
which engages the column lock.This
makes your car harder to tow which
is a ploy of some professionals.
• Try to find a spot that’s well lighted
and heavily trafficked if you have to
park on the street.
• Never give parking attendants any
key but the ignition key.
