Needy family project
seeking nominations
With the economy depressed as
much as it is it’s even more impor-
tant to see that Christmas is enjoyed
by as many needy families as possi-
ble, noted Record General Manager
Homer Berner, in announcing the
third annual “Christmas Needy
Family” project.
As in the past the fund will be
established at Farmers State Bank
and Trust Company and Buchel
Bank and Trust Company. Checks
should be made payable to the
Christmas Needy Family Fund
Donations can also be made at the
Cuero Record office.
The final figure last year was
slightly over $500 and provided a
very merry Christmas for a number
of deserving families.
Again the newspaper would Ike to
have full community participation
from individuals, businesses, clubs,
organizations and church groups.
“Those of us who have jobs and
many of the finer things in life
should be more than willing to share
with those who don’t,” Berner
noted.
If you know of a deserving, needy
family whose prospects of a merry
Christmas have been dimmed by un-
fortunate circumstances, just drop a
letter to the newspaper stating your
reasons for selecting that family.
Where possible please give the
ages, names, sizes of clothing, etc.
of that family as you can. The infor-
mation will be verified.
Mail your letter and donations to
The Cuero Record, PO Box 351,
Cuero, Texas 77954.
Berner said a panel of judges will
decide which family or families will
benefit this year from the generous
giving of a caring community.
Families cannot submit their own
name and the Record reserves the
right to check each letter. Letters
become the property of the
newspaper
