Conpetitive Sealed Proposals for plumbing of the Harper ISD
Classroom Additions will be received at the School District
Administration Offices, until June 12, 2000 at 12:00 p.m. Within 45
days after the date of opening the proposals, the district shall
evaluate and rank each proposal submitted. This district shall enter
negotiations with the offeror that offers the best value to the district
based on its ranking evaluation. In determining best balue for the
district, the district is not restricted to considering price alone, but
may consider any other selection criteria. The district reserves the
right to waive any formalities, reject any & all proposals, & to accept
the proposal, which in the District's opinion is most advantageous.
Prime Proposer may obtain 1 set of Construction Documents from
the office of the Superintendent for a $100 deposit, refundable upon
return of documents.

Congratulations to all the
Harper High School Graduating
Seniors Class of 2000.
Kerry Lee Stallworth graduated
from The School of Pharmacy in
Lubbock, Texas Tech Univeristy,
at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 21.
Fifty-eight students received their
degrees. Kelly is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stallworth of
Harper.
Mary Wood is at home after a
short stay in the hospital this last
week. Mary and Marshall Wood
are having their son, John
Michael and his wife, Susan to
visit in their home for several
days. Michael and Susan are
from Saudi Arabia. They have
have two grown children in the
states whom they will also visit.
They are son, Joshua Marshall
Wood of New York and he is an
artist; daughter, Amanda Wood
of Virginia, who is an artist and
teacher. They will meet and visit
the children in Green Valley,
Arizona. John works for Saudi
Hollandi Bank and he has a
Master's Degree in Foreign
Business. He plans to build a
home in Green Valley, Arizona
and retire there. He is Mary and
Marshall Wood’s youngest son
The Harper High School Band
left Monday, May 29th with
plenty of sponsors for Orlando
Florida. They will visit Disney
World. They have earned this
trip and they will perform two
different times while they are
there. The/ are to return
Saturday, June ifd around 9 p.m
There are several family reuions
coming up pretty soon Some
like the Parker Family Reunion
and the Bode Family Reunion
Birthdays that I know about in
the month of June are Bill Bacon
on the 18th, Kay Atkins and
James Colwell on the 24th Maria
Baskett on the 25th and
Josephine Rieger on the 29th.
Anniversaries that I know about
for the month of June are: Worth
and Cherrie Duderstadt (43rd) on
the 1st, Bob and Patty Sims
(30th) on the 6th, G.C. "Pooch"
and Marjorie Stevens (60th) on
the 8th, Bill and Cindy Bacon
(10th) on the 23rd, and John and
Karen Bishop (30th) on the 26th.
The Interdenominational Bible
Study will meet this Wednesday
morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at
the First Baptist Church
Fellowship Hall. Everyone is
welcome.
Some of the people in our
community need to be on your
prayer list. J.B. Rieger, Mr.
Weaver, and Jerica Lynn Barker
will be having surgery this week
1 or in a few days Remember
them.
I saw Opal Harper, Monday
evening and she seems to be
doing pretty good. Opal we are
glad you are back home and
doing we!!
We also need to pray for
Sammy Williams as she suffered
a stroke a few weeks ago She is
doing better and hopes to return
to work soon.
Some of our college students
are home for the summer or at
least for a visit Some of those I
have seen are Rowdy Westbrook,
Danielle Stehling, and Shawna
Nations.
It was good to see Stephanie
Platzner here for the
Baccalaureate and Graduation
Ceremony this year Stephanie

to Florida She graduated from
William R Boone High School in
Orlando Florida She was here
visiting her grandparents Mr &
Mrs Scollard

Lighten Up This Summer With Duckling Salad
STRAWBERRY ORANGE
DUCKLING SALAD
Servings: 4
Salad
2 tsp olive oil
Four 4 07. Maple Leaf Farms
skinless duckling
breasts
l/£ tsp salt
lA tsp black pepper
8 cups mixed greens
2 cups strawberries,
halved
2 cups orange sections
l/i cup orange vinaigrette
IB walnut halves (opt.)
Orange Vinaigrette
V< cup orange juice
1 tsp cornstarch
2 tsp vinegar
1 xk tsp olive oil
\k tsp grated orange zest
V& tsp salt
dash ground black pepper

1. Brush duckling breasts
with oil; sprinkle with salt and
pepper. Grill, broil or saute for
4-5 minutes per side over
medium high heat. Let set for
5 minutes before slicing.
2. Prepare vinaigrette. Use
a small amount of orange juice
to dissolve cornstarch. Add
dissolved cornstarch to re-
maining juice; place into
sauce pan. Bring to simmer to
thicken; remove from heat.
Blend in remaining ingredi-
ents; cool.
3. Toss greens with straw-
berries and oranges. Add vinai-
grette; toss. Divide evenly
among 4 plates. Top each salad
with sliced duckling breasts. If
desired, garnish with walnuts.
Serve immediately.
