A Prayer for Rain
Almighty God, we are in need of rain. We realize now, looking
up into the clear, blue sky above, what a marvel even the least
drop of rain really Is. To think that so much water can fall out of
the sky, which now is empty and clear! We place our trust in You.
We are sure that You know our needs. But You want us to ask You
anyway, to show You that we know we are dependent on You.
Look on our dry hills and fields, dear God, and bless them with the
living blessing of soft rain. Then the land will rejoice, and the
rivers will sing your praises, and the hearts of men will be made
glad. Amen.
(Editor’s note: Correction—This prayer was written in the
drought of the 1950s by Fr. W. Schneider of St. Mary’s in
Fredericksburg, not by Fr. Gitter as has been reported in this
paper before as reported in the Aug. 26, 2011 issue of
Today’s Catholic.)

moted and participated in
the 2012 Brush Arbor Days
held Sept. 9-10 in the

when folks will take ‘time
off from their usual rou-

hours to reconnect with
their friends and neighbors.
Everyone that came to
the events those two
evenings were truly
“blessed.” Thanks to those
present and for the funds
generated that will be a
great help to the
Community Chest, enabling
this organization to contin-
ue to serve those in OUR
OWN community that are in
need.

The Overflowing Creek
Over the past several
months the Lord and I have
made incredible memories
at the dry creek, and I just
knew that someday the
creek would flow again - I
could see it in my mind’s
eye. I could hear it, even
though there was not a
drop of water. The day has
arrived! The dry creek is
now over-flowing!
When I drove home from
work I could not believe my
eyes, as I passed over the
bridge on Friedrich Road. I
was so excited! I had to
immediately pull my van
over and go to the creek. I
was thanking Jesus and
smiling continuously; so
much so, that my face began
to hurt, seriously. I told the
Lord, “This is ridiculous. I am
like a kid at the candy store.
I cannot stop smiling. Thank
You Jesus for the rain!”
I listened to the rushing
water and breathed in the
presence of Jesus. He wants
us to share every moment
with Him. He desires to
make us smile - so much so
that our face hurts. Now the
Lord and I get to make new
memories at the flowing
creek!
Psalms 16:11 You will
show me the path of life; in
Your presence is fullness of
joy; at Your right hand are
pleasures forevermore.
Fall more in love with
Jesus today.
