man, two defeated candidates
for sheriff in the recent election,
were both awarded for their ef-
forts by being appointed deput-
ies in the Hardin County sheriff's
department. Under the law, the
Commissioners Court passes on
the character and reliability of
the sheriff's deputies. No one in
the Courthouse was surprised that
the Commissioners Court action
since both men were with the
members of the Clique’s ma-
chine during the last election.
Some observers commented
that they felt that this action
showed tliat County Judge Flet-
cher Richardson, Com. Rocky Rich-
ardson and CormTom Eorchdidnot
intend to stand for re-election
two years from now. Others stated
that the Court was just up to its
old tricks of disregarding the wish-
es of the people of Hardin County.
The Pine Needle and others
had told the people of the deal
promised to Coleman in return
for his support for Moore. This
deal had the approval of all
members of the Commissioners
Court and the action was by un-
animous vote Monday.
