Lady Tigers Defeat
Lady Indians 18-5
Thirteen Teams In
Electra Track Meet
Lady Tigers exploded
with a 15-run fourth inning
to take the lead over the
Northside Lady Indians in
their second district softball
contest here on Monday.
Coach Ryan Quillen
commented, '' The Lady
Indians jumped out to an early
5-3 lead going into the bottom
of the fourth inning when the
Lady Tigers took the lead 18-

competed in a golf tournament
in Childress on Monday,
March 17.
Elizabeth Segler shot 127
and Emily Tulane, 130, on
a difficult layout at Stoney
Ridge Golf Course.
Coach Rogers Lankford
said, "These ladies are both
Electra Junior High Cubs
eighth grade finished second
and the seventh grade finished
fourth in the Archer City
Track Meet on Monday.
Athletic Director/Mark
Young said, "The boys had
a great showing. They are
getting better every week and
their hard work is paying off
for them. Next week we are off
due to STAAR testing but will
have a district meet in Archer
City on April 7. Come watch
these boys compete for the
district championship. Field
events will kick off about
3:15, 2400 will be around 4
and the running events will
start around 5.”
Eighth grade scored 112
points and the seventh graders
scored 77 points.

Nathan Strahan - second,
discus, 102’9; and third in
shot, 34’3 and one-half
Jason Hopkins - second,
pole vault, T 6
Matt Anderson, third in
pole vault, 7;
5. The Lady Tigers shut the
Indians down in the top of the
fifth to win by run rule. Our
bats came alive in the fourth
which led to the explosion of
runs and sealed the victory. ”
The Lady Tigers are now
10-7 overall on the season and
1-1 in district play.
Hitters for the Lady
Tigers were Sarah Byrd, 3 x
4, 3 runs, 5 Rbi; McKenzie
freshmen and this is the first
time they have played 18
holes this year. I am proud of
the way they handled some
tough conditions and the
excitement of playing in their
first tournament.
The girls played on
Monday, March 24, in a
tournament in Olney.

Lose To
Seymour
Lady Tigers opened
district softball play on
Tuesday hosting the Lady
Panthers of Seymour to a 10-2
loss.
Coach Ryan Quillen said,
"The Lady Tigers got off to
a shaky start giving up three
runs while committing three
errors in the first inning.
Disappointing defense would
be the theme throughout the
game as the Lady Tigers
committed seven errors. ”
The Lady Tigers looked to
rebound against the Northside
Lady Indians on Monday at
Northside.
Hitters for the Lady
Tigers against Seymour were
McKenzie Lewis, 2 x 3, 2
runs, 1 stolen base; Valerie
Gilmore, 2 x 3, 1 stolen base;
Breanna Arnold, 1 x 3, 1 Rbi,
and Morgan Anderson, 1x3,
1 walk.

Electra Lady Cubs
competed in the Archer City
Track Meet.
Coach Shawnda Gilmore
said, "The girls did a pretty
good job competing. We will
have to work hard to be able
to win the district meet but
I believe the girls can pull it
off. A BIG thanks to everyone
who came out and supported
us. We look forward to seeing
all of you at the district meet
in Archer City on April 7.”

Electra hosted a 13-team
track meet Thursday.
In the boys division
Childress placed first followed
by Vernon, second and City
View, third.
Childress won first in the
junior boys division followed
by Vernon, second and City
View, third.
Vernon placed first in
the girls division followed
by Henrietta, second, and
Nocona third.
Our boys competed
hard,” said Athletic Director/
Coach Mark Young. "There
was lots of competition.”
In the junior varsity
division the 4 x 100 Kody
Nason, Dylan Talbert, Brian
Lorenson and Drake Cooper
placed seventh. Payton
Robertson placed fifth in the
lOOmn and sixth in the 200m.
The 4 x 200, Nason,
Lorenson, Cooper and Landon
Bottlinger, placed fourth and
the 4 x 400, Nason, Bottlinger,
Lorenson and Talbert, also
placed fourth.
In the varsity division
the 4 x 100, Michael Bishop,
Clayton Holmes, Tyler Lowe
and Zairy Hargrove, placed
fifth. Andrew Marsh placed
sixth in the 80m. Aaron
Weddle placed sixth in the
11 OH.
Lowe placed sixth in the
400m. In the 300H Weddle
and Bishop tied for fifth.
Bishop placed fourth in the
Triple Jump and Brady Doss
placed fourth in the pole
vault. In the high jump Xavier
Waggoner and Tyler Lowe
tied for sixth.
"I am very pleased
with the way these boys are
competing. Their effort is
getting better each meet and
we will be ready for district.
Our next meet is in Archer
City on Thursday, March 27.
We will have one more meet
Electra Tigers placed
sixth in the Stoney Ridge
Golf Course in Childress on
Tuesday, March 18.
Tylor Bowden led the
way for the Tigers shooting
a round of 103. Tyler Staley
shot 109. Kody Nason had a
113, Ashton Mobra shot 124
and Austin Bottlinger shot
in Windthorst on April 3 and
our district meet will be in
Seymour on April 10,” the
coach said.
He added, *' I would like
to thank everyone who helped
work the track meet. I had
over 30 adult workers and 40
student workers. Without your
help our track meet would
not have been a success. The
coaches from the other schools
were very impressed with our
workers and how well the
track meet was conducted.
Track meet is only as good as
its workers. Thank you all so
much. I could not have done
it without you. Thanks for all
the support for our boys and
girls. Go Tigers!”

said, " The course was long
and the wind played a factor in
the higher scores. Because of
baseball and state testing, the
boys will not play again until
district on April 7 in Baird and
on April 9 in Burkburnett.
