Community Calendar and
Announcement Policy
The Community Calendar and
Announcement sections are for non-profit
organizations such as churches, schools,
and benefits helping families or certain
groups. The benefit must run what it is and
where the money is going. No prices will be
allowed in the placement. For example, no
ticket price, no door price or no prize price.
"Donations will be accepted" is acceptable
language, but no amount is allowed. Items
in question will be handled on a case-by-
case basis and placement or non-placement
will be at the discretion of the editor and the
publisher. The placer always has the oppor-
tunity to purchase an advertisement in the
paper to run the fidl announcement. If he or
she wishes to do so, they will be directed to
advertising for their assistance. Feel free to

SISD Season Basketball Passes
SISD season basketball passes for all home
games will be sold at the Administration
building and at Sweetwater High School bas-
ketball games beginning on Wednesday, Nov.
7 through Wednesday, Nov. 21. Seasons pass-
es will allow admission into the high school
and middle school regular season games
played in Sweetwater. Passes are invalid for
tournaments and playoffs. If you have any
questions, please call 235-8601 ext. 16.
Sunday, Nov. 11
Veterans Day Breakfast
American Legion Post #227 would like to
invite all of our area veterans and active duty
personnel and their families to join us for
breakfast on Sunday Nov. 11, 2012 at 7 a.m.
There will be a flag raising ceremony and
a guest speaker. For more information call

Veterans Day Supper
The Sweetwater Elks Lodge will host a
Veterans Day hamburger supper at 6 p.m.
Veterans and their spouses can eat free.
Monday, Nov. 12
Sweetwater Little League
Sweetwater Little League will have a meet-
ing at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12,2012, at the
Sweetwater Intermediate School cafeteria.
New officers will be elected at the meeting.
Health Department Closed
The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department will be closed on Monday,
Nov. 12, to observe Veteran’s Day and on
Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23 for
the Thanksgiving holidays. Immunization
clinic is cancelled for Wednesday, Nov. 21.
Regular hours for immunizations will resume
on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Tuesday, Nov. 13
Free Cholesterol and Blood
Glucose Screenings
The Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital
Diabetic Outreach Program will have free
cholesterol and blood glucose screenings
from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Nov.
13, 2012, at the Nolan County Courthouse,
third floor conference room. Blood pressure
checks will also be provided. Everyone is
welcome.
Abilene Area Aggie Moms' Club
The Abilene Area Aggie Moms' Club will
have their monthly meeting at 6:45 p.m. on
Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Coldwell Banker Panian
& Mash Building, located at 2500 S. Willis
in Abilene. A light meal will be served. For
those who can’t make the meeting but would

Diabetic Foot Clinic
The Diabetic Outreach Program will have
a diabetic foot clinic on Thursday, Nov. 15,
2012. The clinic will take place from 9-11
a.m. in the ER classroom and from 5-7 p.m.
in the conference room. Everyone is welcome
to attend.
LIFT Luncheon
A LIFT Luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m.
on Thursday, Nov. 15, at The Center at Texas
State Technical College. Call 325-670-6999
for reservations.
Friday, Nov. 16
Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser
The Winds of Texas Club at TSTC will be
having a donut fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 16
to raise money to attend the AWEA confer-
ence in Chicago. The fundraiser will take place
in the parking lot across from Brookshire's
starting at 6:30 a.m. For more information or

Saturday, Nov. 17
Fundraiser
There will be a fundraiser for Teresa Wood
Smith and her husband Mark Smith of
Sweetwater, whose home burned Thursday,
Nov. 1. The fundraiser will be at Wal-Mart
on Saturday, Nov. 17. Friends of Teresa and
Mark will be selling brisket sandwiches and
hot dogs from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. or until they
sell out. Money will be used to help Teresa
and Mark restore her home. Teresa is a home
health nurse and graduate of Sweetwater
High School.
AARP Drivers Safety Course
On Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Nolan County
Courthouse there will be an AARP drivers
safety course. Registration begins at 9:30
a.m. The course will be held from 10 to 12
a.m. with a break for lunch, then resume
from 1 to 3 p.m. AARP is honoring all veter-
ans - individuals who serve or have served
in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines,
National Guard/Reserves, or Coast Guard.
In addition to the veterans, their spouses,
domestic partners, dependents, children, and
widows and widowers may receive the free
classroom course. For more information,

Roscoe Community Center
Thanksgiving Dinner
The Roscoe Community Center will be
hosting a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday,
Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations are
