Seminars in August
The Diocese of Corpus Christi is hosting Book-
keeper Seminars in August.
For those bookkeepers who have not attended a
LOGOS accounting training session a seminar will be
held Tuesday, Aug. 27, in the Chancery Conference
Room. It will be titled LOGOS ACCOUNTING 101
and presented by Leanne Kroon, from 1 p.m. - 4:30
p.m. It will teach you the absolute basics to get up
and going on the LOGOS Accounting Software.
All parish and school bookkeepers are invited to
the following seminars on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the

Corpus Christi Catholic Charismatic Conference
to be held at Bayfront Auditorium Aug. 16-18
The Charismatic Renewal Movement of the Corpus
Christi diocese will hold their annual
conference Aug. 16, 17 and 18 at the
Selena Auditorium.
Scheduled speakers include Bishop
Sam Jacobs, Johnnette Benkovic, Jesus
(Jesse) Romero and Ruben Dario
Hoyos.
Bishop Jacobs of Alexandria, La.,
chairs the United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops Ad Hoc Commit-
tee on Catholic
Charismatic Renewal.
Benkovic, making a return visit to
Corpus Christi, is the president and
founder of Living His Life Abun-
dantly International, Inc., a Catholic
evangelization apostolate with out-
reaches in television, radio, print and
internet communications.
Romero is a Catholic evangelist
who served 16 years as a Los Angeles
County Deputy Sheriff and three-time
World Police Boxing Champion. He has made numerous
appearances on Christian radio and television programs.
Ruben Dario will give his own personal testimony
through his gift of music.
Registration begins at 6 p.m. on Friday night, followed
by a prayer rally and introduction of speakers.
Saturday morning registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and
is followed by praise and worship from 8:30 to 9 a.m.
At 9 a.m., Father Roger Smith, pastor of St. Patrick Par-
ish, and Father Frank Martinez, pastor of Holy Family
Parish, will welcome all those in attendance and Bishop
Edmond Carmody will greet the crowd and give the
invocation.
The day will continue with talks,
praise and worship, and a dinner
break from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Representatives of prayer groups
attending the conference are invited
to participate in the parade of ban-
ners at 6:30 p.m., followed by bene-

Hoyos. Talks and praise and worship continue on Sunday
and the closing Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m.
The conference fee is $20 for adults, $10 for youth 12
to 17 years of age, and there is no fee for priests and reli-

Training, workshops and conferences set for youth
ministers, catechists and Catholic school teachers
The Diocesan Department of Religious Education is
hosting the following workshops and conferences in
August and September:
A DRE (Directors of Religious Education) Leadership
Workshop will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish
in Portland Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The “Praying All Ways: A Multiple Intelligences Ap-
proach to Prayer” workshop for DRE’s and Catechists,
will first be held at Our Lady Of Pilar Parish in Corpus
Christi Aug. 26 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The workshop will
then be held at Sacred Heart Parish in Rockport Aug. 27
from 7 to 9:30 p.m., and again at St. Peter Prince of the
Apostle Parish in Corpus Christi Aug. 29 from 7 to 9:30
p.m, and finally at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish
in Portland Sept. 3 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The presenter
for these workshops will be Sister Caroljean Willie, SC,
Ph.D.
Mini-Conferences for Catechists, Catholic School
Teachers and Youth Ministers will be held in Corpus
Christi at St. Patrick Parish Hall Sept. 7 from 1 to 5:30
p.m., at Our Lady of Victory Parish in Beeville Sept. 8
from 1 to 5:30 p.m., St. Gertrude Parish in Kingsville

Seminary Burse Club Mass,
reception at Cathedral Aug. 11
The annual Seminary Burse Club Mass, presided by
Bishop Edmond Carmody, will be celebrated Sunday, Aug.
11 at 9:30 a.m. at the Corpus Christi Cathedral. All Burse
Club members and all women in the Diocesan Council
of Catholic Women in the Corpus Christi Diocese are
invited to attend the Mass and luncheon to follow in the
cathedral’s St. Joseph Hall. Seminarians studying for the
diocese will also be present.
A burse is a permanent fund used for the education
of seminarians, deacons and priests of the diocese. The
interest earned by the fund is applied each year to their
education and formation. A burse may be started in the
memory of any individual priest, religious or lay person,
or for any intention.

from your respective parishes.
