year term by Bishop Rene Gracida as a Representive to the

Cathedral Sunday
Mass resumes live
broadcast thanks to
Spohn System
Diocesan Telecommunications Corporation recently an-
nounced that as a result of funding from Spohn Health
System the live Cathedral Mass television broadcasts will
resume. The broadcasts had ceased in July 1996 following
budget cutbacks.
Citing the importance of the weekly Mass for the many
bedridden, shut-ins and elderly across South Texas. Spohn
officials felt the resumption of the weekly televised Cathe-
dral Sunday Mass was a natural extension of their mission.
The one hour Mass began airing Jan. 5 and will continue
each Sunday at 9:30 a m. on Fox affiliate KDF-TV UHF
channel 47 (cable channel 13) with the audio portion
broadcast on KLUX Radio 89.5 FM. Tape delayed replays
will air on TCI Religious Access channel 18 Monday at 9
a.m. and Wednesday at 1 p.m., and Heartland Wireless
Cable, CNN channel 27, Monday and Tuesday evenings at
8 p.m.

sessions of practical workshops for those involved in church
ministry or interested in learning more about issues relevant
to their faith life.
The theme for the event is “Our Covenant With Christ,
Nuestra Alianza Con Cristo." Keynote addresses on the
theme will be given in English by Mary Jo Tully, chancellor
of the Archdiocese of Portland, Oregon, and in Spanish by
Bishop Gabino Zavala of the San Gabriel Region of the
Archdiocese of Los Angeles. A variety of workshops will be
offered on topics including "Liturgy and Social Justice,”
"Healthy Human Intimacy,” "Walking the Christian Moral
Tightrope," and “La Jusdca Social y la Espiritualidad." For
more information, inquire at your parish office or call the
diocesan Religious Education Office at (512) 814-5689.
Dr. John Convey, a researcher in Catholic education from
the University of America in Washington, DC., will speak
at the Bishop Gracida Symposium. His presentation will be
“Catholic Education into the New Millennium.”
The financial goals of the symposium is to raise money
for scholarships and endowment funds that will support the
6,000 students in the 28 Catholic Schools within the diocese
of Corpus Christi.
The tickets will be $30.00 each. There are four levels of
table sponsorship: (eight seats per table): Archangel—four
tables, $960.00; Seraphim—three tables, $720.00; Guard-
ian Angel—two tables, $480.00; and Cherub—one table,
$240.00. There will be a silent auction with sports items
including Michael Jordan memorabilia, Philadelphia Phillies
Hall of Fame, San Antonio Spurs and a variety of theme
baskets to be provided by each of the Catholic schools.

putting an ad in a commemorative book or making a
