found, and traced hack to Clark, .who
claims that he got him from a man by tho
name of Hayncv. Clark claims that b*
made a trade with Haynes on the fiend of
Henning Water, giving a marr and ftlley
for tha horse. No bill of sale was taken,
aad there were no witnesses to the trade.

Caudle and the sheriff's little boy went on
the Inalde. Mr. Cnudls stepped around
the corner of one of the cells lo attend to
aometlilng. While be was gone the boy,
who I* quito a good detective, noticed
tha prisoners eagerly seeking to draw to
Ihera a handkerchief which had been
tossed to them, but which had fallen short
of the marb. Tbs boy grabbed it and
rushed with it lo Mr. Caudle It was
found to cootalu three steel springs,
which ware intended far tha prisoners, to
be washed Into saws. No one saw the
party at the door throw lbs handkerchief,
but then is not much doubt of their guilt.
Judge Devine took one of the springs,
which was cut iulo a saw after Its capture,

farms. They were all covered In with
