ART.
ROMA REAGAN CONNOR.
Purpose of Art instruction is to give specific training in
the fundamental principles of Art, to develop a vital interest
in creative expression, to give definite instructions in Art
problems, discovering, fostering, and training creative genius
in the gifted student, and to meet the needs of students major-
ing in both Painting and Public School Art.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MAJOR WoRK.-The student who is
majoring in Drawing and Painting is required to register for
10 a, b, or 11 a, b, 130, 31 a, b, and 41 a, b, and enough other
courses selected from the department to make a minimum of
thirty-six semester hours. Eighteen semester hours must be
advanced, twelve of which must be classified as Special Art.
The student who is majoring in Public School Art is required
to register for 11 a, b, 112, 115, 10 a, b, and 130 and enough
other courses in art to make a minimum of thirty semester
hours, twelve of which shall be advanced.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MINOR WoRK.-The student who
wishes to minor in Art must submit a minimum of eighteen
semester hours, six of which shall be advanced. The courses
should be selected with the aid of the head of the department.
In meeting the requirements for graduation in any depart-
ment other than the Department of Art, twelve semester hours
of prescribed courses in Art will be credited as electives.
All art work completed by students is retained until after
the spring exhibit. Especially meritorious work completed by
a student may, at the discretion of the department, be retained
for purposes of exhibition.
Any person, regardless of whether he is enrolled for col-
lege work or not, who desires courses in painting without
meeting college requirements, should see the head of the
department.
Art students are expected to attend all art exhibits and
lectures pertaining to art sponsored by the department.
SPECIAL ART CERTIFICATE.-A special art certificate may
be secured upon the completion of Public School Art 11 a, b,
and a methods course, 112, or 115, and sixty semester hours
of specified literary work. Application for the special art
