During a month when many people are
taking a vacation, the Pharr Memorial
Library is sponsoring a visit via
videocassettes to two very different
cultures. On Monday, July 28, at 7:00
p.m., the library will show two videotapes
on the ancient world of the Maya and the
modern world of Holland.
The first tape, “Lost World of the
Maya”, is a 36-minute visit to the area
bordening Mexico and Guatemala. Dr.
Eric Thompson, a noted authority on
Mayan civilization, introduces the viewer
to the life of these mysterious people,
both past and present.

Unity of the Valley in Pharr announces a special program
to be presented on Wednesday, July 23, following a summer
salad supper. Two young couples from Houston will be
presenting a evening of music, song, and an uplifting
presentation about the books A COURSE N MIRACLES.
OM and SHANTI, and ROBERT AND BARBARA
VARLEY, creative and dedicated musicians and spiritual
teachers, will share with you a holiestic experience of song
and sound. “This program is for the enrichment of our
spiritual life,” reports Reverend Newsom; “it is an
interesting, stimulating way to have a good time, and also
deepen your inner experience.”
The summer salad supper begins at 6:00 pm; the cost for
the supper is $ 2.50 and one salad dish. The program begins
at 7:30 pm, aind a suggested donation of $ 3.50 per person is
requested for it. The public is cordially invited to attend.
